It's been almost half an hour that I'm here, staring at his beautiful sleeping face. I know he's not sleeping, he never sleeps. But I don't care, I can't help but admire the man I've grown to love so much despite everything and everyone.
Who would've thought the man I hated so much once was going to be my most precious person?
My hand slowly reaches for his face and before I can even feel his soft cheek, his eyes are open. Staring right at me.
I slowly smile, this situation happens too many times a day: when I admire him and he fakes to not notice.
My heart skips a beat when I see this same devilish smirk that made me fall so hard for this man, and I lean forward.
"You look so innocent when you sleep" I say while slowly getting closer.
He takes my hand in his and leads it to his lips, his other hand on my thigh.
"I never sleep." He says.
I know, Oh G.o.d like h.e.l.l I know. He said it way too many times. But I will never get enough of this, ever. I can feel the heat gathering in my cheeks while he kisses my hand without ever leaving my gaze.
"I know." I say
"Come here."
Next thing I know, his lips are locked on mine. He rolls me around and I'm under him. Never leaving my lips, I feel his heated hands running down my thigh. And then it happens, I remember how I grew to love this man so much.

"But I can't really control someone breaking in my apartment and burning the place down can I?!" I scream while Yui is standing on the bed watching me argue over and over with my boss.
I expected this old grumpy man to not believe what happened to be true but who cares? I just realized I was done and tired of this job anyway. The pay was barely worth the stress and everybody in the industry looks down on us because of the low cla.s.s company it is anyway.
"FINE THEN! BUT IF ANY OF YOU CRAZY f.u.c.kS TRY TO TAKE ANY OF MY STORIES I PROMISE YOU I WILL SUE"
Yui watches the fight with an amused face. It's been like that for the last few days. I get mad over the slightest thing and I strike right back if I'm being provoked.
I hang up and throw my phone on the bed.
"Lemme guess? You're fired?"
I turn quickly, my face red as h.e.l.l.
"I QUIT! I QUIT!"
She gets up and hugs me before laughing.
"Calm downnnn. I already talked about it with father anyway, he's going to give your record to the executive who was asking about you last time. You're leaving for a better company and a better pay."
I pat her back and the frown on my face disappears quickly.
"I can't begin to say how thankful I am to have you."
"Oh don't even start." She says before taking a step back.
"So I'm going to work, but if you need anything you can just ask Momo-San, she takes care of the house and it's guests too"
I laugh.
"Okay but when are coming back?" Not liking the idea of staying alone in this big house all day. Her parents are basically never home on week days.
"Well I have a lot of work right now, the law firm has been very busy these days with some Yakuzas that are getting accused of-
"Yakuzas?" I'm not really surprised actually, Yui's law firm is one of the best ones out there and their lawyers never lose a case when they defend their clients. Most of the yakuzas that pay for lawyers there pay excessive amount of money to make sure they have no chance of being jailed
She starts putting her heels on.
"Yeah, these last few days there has been two different clans competing recklessly with each other. I mean you're the journalist here right? You didn't hear about it?"
I roll my eyes.
"I'm not a f.u.c.king journalist..."
"Well anyways, I think it's the Kobayas.h.i.+ Clan against the Edo clan. There has been some back and forth between the two in the last 2 days. The Edo clan has been going around trying to destroy all the properties that belonged to the Kobayas.h.i.+s. And just know how p.i.s.sed they are... there has been some violence in s.h.i.+njuku and tons of minions have been arrested... amongst them, one is the boss I think, and he's the one who's paying nearly 15 million yen on his case."
"Guilty much."
"I don't see no innocent individual spend that kind of money if they know they are." She smiles.
"So most of them are just from Edo then?"
"Hummm, well there are some from the Kobayas.h.i.+ clan who are going to court. But the weird thing is, they don't even bother. They came on the second day with their left hand's pinky all chopped."
"That means their boss is definitely not paying any money to get them out of there. That's the ritual for a great offense."
She looks at me a bit shocked.
"That's really scary... anyways, so I'll be seeing you later then! Gotta go get some money!"
And she disappears behind the door.
I let out a big sigh and go by the terrace of our room. This house is just so comfy, I feel at home but I really don't know how long it is going to last.
I decided to track Reo Kobayas.h.i.+ down and ruin him. It's still fresh in my mind. But when you wanna go after the current G.o.d of the j.a.panese Mafia you have to get ready to sacrifice everything. I'll have to put some distance between Yui and I eventually, to not get her involved.
As my eyes follow the car leaving, I quickly take out my phone.
"Yeah"
"Where can I meet you?" I ask.
"The usual spot baby." He chuckles.
"I can't believe you're really doing this." He adds.
"I am. I'm not scared of him. He ruined my life, don't even think I would let him off."
"As you please baby. I'll see you around."
"Give me 20 minutes."
I hang up and reach for my bag and jacket. I look at myself in the mirror. I look okay. A hat to hide my face, big black shades, a brown sweater and my hair in a messy bun. At least like this I won't draw much attention.
As I'm discretely walking out, in the hall Momo-San curiously stares at me.
"Is there a problem Kubo-San?" She asks with a sweet smile.
I smile back and try to hide my nervousness.
"Oh no, I just have to go to my company and pick up my things before they throw it out."
"Oh... I'm very sorry about your job, you didn't deserve this..."
She genuinely looks worried but I brush it off. Talking about it won't help anyway.
"I'll see you around then." I say before leaving.
It's been almost a week now that I started living with Yui and her parents. They are nice and caring, they make me feel at home. But I can't possibly stay any longer if I'm going to follow this crazy path I chose to follow. It's going to get dangerous at one point.
With these yakuzas, when you have something to lose, you cannot win against them. But I'm not scared, the one I'm going after also has a lot to lose. He has his whole family that depends on him and even though he has no police record yet, I'm sure if I try hard I can link him to all the crimes his gang have been committing.
While in the cab I stare nervously at the road. Today I'm going to see an old friend, David Sora. He used to help me get information for really complicated stories. He's an undercover independent detective. Even though he sometimes works with the police, he doesn't like to work with them and never gets them involved in "his business". Smart guy.
I get off the cab and I see him, sitting on the bench of the park we usually meet at, he never changes. His usual short black hair is thrown back, he's wearing his same black coat and his legendary cigarette between his lips. He spots me and then smiles. If I didn't know him I could think he was an old man but this dude is 23... crazy huh?
"So I guess you were not joking huh?" He says while standing up trying his best to hide the amus.e.m.e.nt in his voice, but as usual, it doesn't work.
I roll my eyes and bow.
"You're supposed to say h.e.l.lo when you meet someone you haven't seen in months.."
"Oh get over it. So why does the little Miss journalist I know, crazy in love with her researches and job, want to suddenly go against the Youngest Oyabun of j.a.pan?"
"You're sure this is a safe place to talk about this?" I ask, as I see kids and people walking around.
He smiles again.
"First thing, you are more likely to be spied on in private than in public. At least here, in this park you can actually see who is spying on you."
I turn to face him, curious.
"And what do you think? Since I got here, do you feel like I'm being spied on?"
He laughs for a few seconds then leans forward. His face suddenly serious.
"You are being heavily followed my friend. What the heck is going on ?!" He asks, and I can almost say he's getting excited by the current situation.
"Good then. I want them to lead me to their boss."
He slowly searches for my gaze then laughs.
"Oh my G.o.d Kanna?! Are you out of your f.u.c.king mind? You trying to get killed?"
"Well I wanna see the Oyabun."
"I don't give a f.u.c.k what you want right now. You asked me to help you reach him. Not get killed. And sorry but I'm planning to do just that!"
I smile, relieved. When David says he's going to do something, it most definitely happens.
" So what's the plan? I gathered all the clothes and everything."
"That's good. You said he saw you before right?"
"Yes..."
I remember my drunken self staring at his almond eyes and "it" never leaving mine. He most and definitely "saw" me.
"Well that's not going to be easy then."
"Why."
"If he knows you're looking for him, he most likely won't show up."
"I think he will... after what happened to me 5 days ago I think he'll at least see me, just to laugh at me."
David throws his cigarette then loudly sighs.
"This is such a messed up situation."
I throw a glance at him and he turns around to face me.
"You know... you don't really need to do this."
"I have to."
"No you don't. You have your both parents, a very much alive grandmother and a whole future ahead of you Kanna. Going down this path means probably risking never seeing them again..."
I don't want to hear this. He always does this. Why can't he just let me be? I want my revenge... and even though I lie to myself several times a day about it... I really, really want to see him again.
He looks at me for a few minutes before getting up. I feel his hand on my thigh. What the actual f.u.c.k?
"What are you doing?!" I ask. But he's looking behind me. Carefully scanning through the crowd.
"They are coming." He whispers in my ear.
"Then let me go with them... it'll be easier."
"You don't know their intentions. You don't even know if they are from his clan. I don't plan on giving you out like this just because of your crazy curiosity."
I laugh and put a hand on his shoulder. I can also see someone behind him. Black shades on, but he's not wearing the black suits those men were in the elevator were 5 days ago. And his tattoo... on his right wrist I can clearly see the tattoo that symbolizes the Edo clan. What the f.u.c.k is going on ?
"These are from the Edo clan, David."
"How do you know?"
"The one behind you has a tattoo of their symbol on his wrist..."
"You are so f.u.c.ked..." he says before quickly leading me out of the park. As we're walking, the roads are getting less and less busy. All the random people that were playing and sitting are gone. It's not feeling right at all.
"Oh my G.o.d... David they are getting closer...I should've never got you involved I'm so sorry..."
"Shut up and walk faster."
But as we reach the walkway, a white van suddenly parks right in front of us. I slowly see David pulling out a gun and, scared for him. I push him away.
"What the f.u.c.k?! Kanna?!"
Next thing I know I'm being pulled in the van and it closes and takes on immediately. I want to scream, protest, fight every single person in the van but there is a hand firmly sticking a tissue on my nose, and I feel weaker by the second. What is happening? Why are my eyes closing?
"Call the boss and tell him that we've got her..."
