My Way To You 288 Family Time

Mrs. Dabney turned and looked back at Ariana with a confused expression. "I lied. I have fought with a friend before. I was a really bad friend then too and it.... It, I made a bad choice and she... I... This is not what I want... She....." Ariana said with a heavy heart, she didn't dare to finish what she started.

Mrs. Dabney pursed her lips. She looked at Ariana's trembling body, she wasn't sure if Ariana was shaking because of her wet clothes or from fear. She decided to wait and she if Ariana would explain herself more. Mrs. Dabney thought it was her safest option, she did not want to say something to set off Ariana's trauma or she would never forgive herself. "I-if I was a b-b-better friend, a b-better person or, or, or, or if I didn't exist maybe things would have been different!" Ariana cried as tears started to hit the floor.

"Is that why you stayed alone for so long? In your past life?" Mrs. Dabney asked as she placed her hand over top of Ariana's freezing hands. The warmth from her hands shot up Ariana's body. 

Ariana slowly pulled off the towel as she raised her gaze, tears rolling down her cheeks. She looked at Mrs. Dabney and gulped a mouth full of saliva. "I lost my other half and I barely moved on." Ariana whispered. Mrs. Dabney wrapped her arms around Ariana and gave her a gentle hug. "That was back on Earth. Things are different here, you are different here. You won't repeat your same mistakes again right?" Mrs. Dabney asked.

Ariana shook her head no. "Edlyn is someone I refuse to lose." Ariana said in a shaky voice. "There! That settles it! Get your clothes off and shower. I will leave your pajamas here so you can get changed. You're not going home tonight, your a mess and all you need now is some rest B-U-T it's Friday night! You might not have any plans and it's been so long since Brie was born I feel stuffy stay inside all the time! Can I bother you for a favour? It's nothing big just wondering if you can babysit Brie while I go out with Pascal. Well more like you stay here and Brie sleeps, she's not that fussy or anything, she a dream actually but I really can't stay in this house any longer!" Mrs. Dabney said with sparkling eyes.

Ariana was dumbstruck. Mrs. Dabney was definitely one of a kind. "Why not! I'm probably going to be c.r.a.ppy company any-achoo!" Ariana sneezed. "Get in the shower already!" Mrs. Dabney shouted as she turned Ariana around. "Honestly why do all you people just let me talk so much! Can't you just tell me to shut up!" Mrs. Dabney shouted as she stormed out of the bathroom. Ariana was left dumbstruck again. She wiped up her runny nose with her wet handkerchief then laughed. It wasn't long before she was showering.

Ariana stepped out of the bathroom feeling completely refreshed. She was wearing a cotton, long sleeve, pale pink pajama set decorated with little white bunnies and red hearts. She felt a little embarra.s.sed wearing it but at the same time her heart swelled. Last time she slept over at the Dabney's they wore the same type of pajamas. Mr. Dabney's was a navy blue while Mrs. Dabney's was a mint green. They even had one for Brie and it was lilac. 

"Good it fits! I was a little worried." Mr. Dabney said as his face flushed a little. Ariana beamed with happiness. "I love it! Makes me feel like part of the family." Ariana said happily. "You are family!" Mrs. Dabney shouted as she walked up to Ariana and pa.s.sed her Brie. "Well we will be off now. This house is also your house too so do whatever you want, we will be back late so don't wait up for us okay? If you're hungry I have leftovers that can be heated up in the fridge, oh and three bottles of milk are there too, you know what to do. Don't forget that if you need more milk there's a couple of bags in the freezer and-?!"

"Roselyn she already knows everything come on or will miss our reservation." Mr. Dabney said as he started to drag his wife towards the door. "Reservation?" Ariana asked in confusion. "We were going to ask you to babysit earlier today but it all worked out for the best. We definitely did not send a rush message to our favourite restaurant and begged for a table or anything so you can have some time to yourself." Mrs. Dabney said awkwardly as Mr. Dabney facepalmed himself. 

Ariana blinked a few times before she burst out into laughter. Ariana then moved Brie in her arms and sat her up. Her little back rested against Ariana's chest. She then raised Brie's tiny, chubby arm and waved at the Dabney's. "Have a good time." Ariana said in a sweet voice. Mr. Dabney let go of his wife and rushed up to his daughter. He started to rub his cheek against her small face. "I can't go! She's too cute!" Mr. Dabney cried.

"Pascal honestly!" Mrs. Dabney shouted as she grabbed his right ear and dragged him out the door. Ariana couldn't help but laugh even harder. She watched as the two stopped bickering. They turned around and waved. "Have a good night." They said and Ariana waved back happily at them. "You too."

The Dabneys then turned around and walked off hand in hand. Ariana watched them until they were no longer visible. She then turned and closed the door. "Brie let's go read some picture books." Ariana said happily as she looked at Brie's chubby face. She was only a couple of weeks old and she was already bigger. Her eyes were still a sapphire blue and her cheeks were so round Ariana had to fight the urge to eat them right up.

'Family time?' Vasu asked as he appeared in front of the two. Ariana hesitated then smiled. "Ya, you guys are my family too." Ariana said then all the Lumas appeared.
