"Grandmother, I know you are against this. However you must look past me and look past Fantasy in my eyes. It is my duty to protect my people, just as it is your own to protect them and the future of our people." Kyera spoke gently to her grandmother, holding her hand gently love in her eyes. The old woman looked down at her grandchild, there was pain in them but also a sense of knowing. There was only so much she could say to question her.
"Kyera love, you owe us nothing. I robbed your grandmother of her life, and your mother of her t.i.tle. I can not rob you of your life as well." Crystalsa replied reaching out to gently caress her grandchild's cheek. Kyera laid her cheek into her hand tenderly. She kissed her palm lightly. No one else dared to say a word. There was nothing they could really say… it would have to be decided between them and them alone.
"Grandest Mother, you know as well as I do that if any should be safe there, it is me. I am not of this earth, I am not of this land. I love you, and I am glad I got to see you again. I am glad I came home. I wish I had more time to spend with you but even you can not fight fate. Your fate is to live as the life of this land, were my own is to give myself over to protect my people and uphold the forest laws." Kyera replied gently. As she did she looked back at Reever, hoping he would help her for once. He cleared his throat.
"Kyera has a point, Mother. She is a Princess. It is her duty to protect us and as she said she is the only one of us who knows the land beyond the portal. If there is a chance we can save our people and end the deaths that have come from the trials, is it not better to sacrifice one to the safety of many?" He asked offering exactly the view Kyera had hoped he would. She knew it was because she threatened his position and power, but it didn't' matter. As long as his words swayed Grandest mother in the direction she needed her to go.
"Reever, how dare you. You were not saying the same when it came your daughter's turn to walk that path. We can not take Kyera's life. Clovis offered his but if he found that we took her life to save him he would never want that. He loves her." Myra pointed out standing to face her uncle angrily. Her hatred finally boiling over and her father stood at her side, Bryson knowing his brother had a tendency toward violence, and wouldn't' allow him to touch his daughter.
"Myra, I know your pain but what other choice do we have? Kyera has made this offer, she has her own right to live or die as she wishes. Who are we to deny her the chance to do as she believes is right? He will understand if he truly loves her." Reever replied, his voice surprisingly calm and understanding in the face of his nieces anger. He honestly didn't seem to hold any anger in response to her outburst of emotion.
