Oulan Mercy was already dead, the Outer Sect no longer had a Vice-Sect Leader. Roger Flankz was a coward who left him to battle alone in an attempt to get the drop on his nemesis. Even though Roger asked in advance and informed him of the plan, Garuda still held Roger in disdain. Sigma Octanis would likely kill Roger Flankz easily, and then the Inner Sect of White Serpent Cove would no longer have a Vice-Sect Leader either. Now, even as the Core Vice-Sect Master of White Serpent Cove, Garuda also failed to accomplish all but one of his goals. They did not recover the Dracophant Egg, unless Roger was blessed by the fates. However, they had long since betrayed a saint's faithful heart and walked the path of sinners.
How could the fates ever speak to them again? Much less offer any help,
They also failed to recover Oulan Mercy's spatial artifact, or the prototype charm potions, or the treasured sword which was thought to be an armament of the destiny rank, a Destiny Armament. Only powerful natal weapons could achieve this level of independent consciousness. Garuda was depressed as he seriously considered self-destruction for the first time in his life.
No way the Dark Emissaries of White Serpent Cove would let him off for this. It was simply impossible. Once the Sect Master and Cove Master caught wind of his mistakes Garuda's ending would only be more miserable. Even his wife may be openly plundered and toyed with. Of course, his wife was more powerful than himself, so very few people in the Cove could accomplish this.
"You look pathetic," an eerie voice that felt like nails scratching a chalkboard spoke with disgust as a dark shadow rose up from Garuda's own shadow before transforming into a man taller than two meters with pointed ears. He wore a hooded black cloak with a horned white serpent design. This was different from Garuda regular White Serpent tattoo and cloths. The newcomer's skin had a tinge of grey, making him look similar to dark elves. Merely, this young man possessed verdant eyes and a stoic face, that occasion faded in and out of the shadows in his hood.
"Shadow Submission Art! A Dark Emissary," Garuda ground his teeth in frustration. He could tell that his movements had been totally sealed. This was a shadow art that only those with shadow qi could comprehend, giving them the power of shadow possession! The owner of this technique could invade the shadows of others and use them to control their targets. Every Dark Emissary knew this ability as they could all use such shadow powers to control others. Garuda narrowed his eyes, unsure of how long this Dark Emissary had been flowing him via his shadow. Garuda gnashed his teeth and didn't even bother to disguise his sarcasm, "Greetings Senior Dark Emissary. I wonder, what does your eminency need this humble one to do?"
"Keke, you know what I want very well. You have failed your master's expectations. For this, you will be stripped of your post." The Dark Emissary smiled in a creepy and crooked way. His smile was truly ugly. However, his words actually made Garuda excited. Only a demotion? This was already showing favoritism. He eagerly listened for the next instruction. Meanwhile, the Dark Emissary spoke up again after a short pause, "For now, I will heal you and you will follow me to complete a task. If you fail me as well, you will die on that battlefield. We will remember your contribution."
Garuda actually swallowed a mouth full of saliva. He clearly found this Dark Emissary to be a terrifying person. Besides, hearing a command from a Dark Emissary was to be taken as a direct order from the Cove Master, so Garuda didn't dare to disobey at all. These Dark Emissaries came from the power that his White Serpent Cove was subordinate of, the White Demon Castle!
Rumors had it that the White Demon had been becoming even more powerful lately. His yin principle experienced another breakthrough, making him far more formidable.
"Yes, Lord Dark Emissary," Garuda would have bowed if his body wasn't laying flat and completely immobile. He could barely even feel his toes, not to mention standing up. The Dark Emissary nodded once then flicked a medicinal pill into Garuda's mouth before it closed. Garuda nearly choked at the oil became a warm stream of energy that instantly swam through his broken body, fixing it along the way. Without Master Neofrost, Sigma Octanis, and the Temple Sheppard, Garuda still had partners that were willing to finish the plan.
"Kekekekeke…I saw what that North Ward priest did to you. You seem to have lost your edge a bit, but hurry and recover," the Dark Emissary's creepy laugh sounded out as he gave more orders, "Leave the matters here to Honored Elder Crash Bandit. We'll be heading to Blackheart City once you have returned to your peak strength."
Garuda operated his voodoo arts to refine the medicinal force properly. Internally, he was considering whether or not he should mention the reason he put his life on the line was because of the little negus brat, or that this child had a 90% chance of being the one who has been attacking them in secret. Not only that but he was also like the lost scion of the Earl. Of course, if Garuda openly made a move, the real culprit could flee if it was someone else who had stolen the goods. He couldn't afford any more mistakes, so Garuda was torn.
He decided not to say anything for now.

Back in front of the broken Silver Meadow Inn, Ca.s.san Bluetooth stares at the two destroyed establishments in blank dismay. Such decent investments, he could have signed over to young master Moon. Now he would have to renovate these two buildings. Noticing the strange look in his eyes, Dessa Chimes who was resting at his side sat up as a wave of soreness. .h.i.t her. She followed Ca.s.san's eyes and her eyes brightened like she had an idea.
"Mr. Bluetooth, are you…secretly the owner of these two properties?" Dessa Chimes remembered clearly that they were arranged to be here by others. How much of a coincidence would it be if they were brought to sleep in the very place they were bound to be in anyway?
"Ah…" Ca.s.san was startled for a moment since he was seen through, but in the end, he just signed heavily. "Indeed, la.s.s. Such a waste, these properties both make pretty good money."
"Oh really?" Dessa Chimes tilted her head to the side as she observed the once luxurious stone building that was missing its roof. "Can't you market them more because of this? Maybe rename it? The Winter Winds Defense Inn - and across the street can be converted into a mercenary guild. Then you would make tons of money I bet!"
Ca.s.san was dumbfounded. In fact, even Jodye who spied on their conversation was thrown off. Was Dessa always so business savvy? Where had she learned to be this way? Could it be that old swindler Wyven? Maybe that, in combination with her seasoned ability to look at the brighter side of tragedies allowed her to become quite skilled in situations such as these. Merely, no-one had ever taken her opinions seriously before in her life. Why would she express them as a mere slave? However, after cultivating the t.i.tanic Rage Law, Dessa was slowly changing in temperament. This should be closer to who she really is as a person. Jodye hoped his Hand could find herself and self-motivate her way to the peak, not just get there by relying on himself.
Thinking up to here, Jodye felt it was a plausible conjecture.
"La.s.s that is…that is… in fact, it's genius!" Ca.s.san Bluetooth tried to find a reason to deny her words and he could not. This little lady's idea was ingenious, they could capitalize off of this tragedy to turn more profit! How long had this little dragon hen hidden such golden eggs? "Tell me, what do you think of this…"
'Cosmo.'
As Ca.s.san and Dessa acquainted themselves, Jodye Trill was facing the huge Dracophant Egg. The [Cosmos Revolving Grimoire] appeared in front of him in a flash of violet light, immediately flipping open to the seventh page. Million of runes burst from the heavenly tome forming chains of curse seals that wrapped around the Dracophant Egg melting inside and making the egg release a dark light. The [Cosmos Revolving Grimoire] spoke to Jodye once more.
