Ronnie froze for a slight second. His happiness knew no bounds. He quickly went out to call for the medical pract.i.tioner who was segregating the medicinal herbs he'd collected for the girl's treatment.
The medical pract.i.tioner at first didn't understand why he was shouting with complex expressions of sadness, happiness, worry, rejoice, relief everything at once written all over his face.
He tried to communicate that the girl had just now made a movement of her fingers and she let out a small sound.
The medical pract.i.tioner on seeing him realized that something must have happened with the girl. So, he immediately went to check on the girl.
Ronnie followed right after him and went inside along with him. On going inside they found that the girl was trying to open her eyes. She knotted her eyebrows like in some kind of pain.
The girl had groggy images of an accident in her mind. A man, woman and a child which seemed like a family of three were involved in an accident. The man and the woman lied in a pool of blood. The woman was trying to tell the small girl something panting heavily, "Swe- sweetie, run away from here-e. Promi-se promise me you'll-you'll take care of yourself. Go to grandd-mm-maa…." and she breathed her last. Just at the end of it she saw an old, serene looking old lady smiling at her warmly. She heard her saying, "Wake up my baby girl. You are in safe hands now."
The girl couldn't understand any of it. But the last words, 'Get up my baby girl. You are in safe hands now. Get up my baby girl. You are in safe hands now,' kept ringing in her ears. She finally regained her conscious and tried to flutter open her eyes.
Upon opening her eyes, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment. It was a thatched hut. The room was poorly lit. Sunlight entering from the small window was the only source of light. She saw two men standing anxiously near her.
First, she looked at the medical pract.i.tioner who was an old man. He looked like a devout, pious octogenarian. He had grown a thin white beard. He had worn a long overcoat covering all the other exquisitely layered dresses beneath the overcoat. Only his fingers were exposed.
Next, she looked towards Ronnie. She saw a young man standing in front of her. He looked weary probably because he was unshaven and untidy. In spite of that, the man emitted an aura of flamboyance. He was tall, muscular, offensively handsome. To sum up, apart from the tiresome face, he had the looks which even the Greek G.o.d's would envy for.
But, finding herself in a new environment with two men she couldn't recognise, she was left confused. She immediately got alert.
'But the gentle grandma in my dream said that I'm in safe hands now. Who was she? What was she trying to tell?' she thought inwardly blinking her eyes.
She couldn't decipher anything but the fear of being among strangers loomed over her mind. Especially next when the medical pract.i.tioner asked her something in his language for which the girl looked even more bewildered. She didn't understand what he was asking. That increased her fear. She tried to make a movement to get up, but she couldn't suddenly get up since she was asleep for so long.
