Chapter 1 Traveling Through Time
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
d.a.m.n Time-Travel Agency! Ji Ruoyi was carrying a heavy traveling bag, scolding and crawling along the mountain road on her hands and feet. A piece of wood in the distance was the crutch she had just dropped.
"What the h.e.l.l is this? Why can't I see anybody after I've been gone so long?" Ji Ruoyi gave up and sat down under a tree she didn’t know the name of. The tree shaded her from the hot sun. She took out a bottle of mineral water from her backpack and twisted the lid open for a drink.
Wow, so cool! She poured the remaining half-bottle of mineral water head-on, and wiped her face neatly. The droplets evaporated away a trace of the heat. Fortunately, she’d grabbed this bottle of mineral water before her departure, otherwise she would become the first person to die of thirst while time-traveling.
It’s also the time-travel. The d.a.m.n boss said that she could not arrive in the Tang Dynasty with the ticket she’d bought. She didn’t know where she was now. The boss ripped open a time gap casually and kicked her in. Why hadn’t they told her earlier? Ah, she didn't know where she was, but she had to keep crawling forward.
Puff and blow, puff and blow! She gasped for breath as she encouraged herself. There was no way to be out of breath. It was a heavy backpack filled with almost all her belongings, including a solar generator, a rice cooker, an induction cooktop, a lamp, a laptop, a ballpoint pen, a notebook, ten panties, and ten bras. There was no way to find such things in ancient times, and she was sure she couldn't get used to their pants and underwear. So she had to bring them on her own. Well, there were also five sets of built-in sanitary napkins.
According to the agreement initially signed with the Time-Travel Agency, she could stay in the ancient times for five months. However, she didn’t know if anyone would remember that she was here alone when her time was up, and if anyone would remember to bring her back.
No, no, she really couldn't walk. Ji Ruoyi unloaded her backpack and fell askew on it. Would she have to sleep here tonight? She didn't know if there were any jackals, wolves, tigers, or leopards in the mountains. After a short rest, she finally recovered some strength. Ji Ruoyi got up and took out her tent from her backpack. She set up her tent and looked at her backpack. Alas, without rice and vegetables, she could only scrounge up a meal of bread, ham, and fresh milk.
Throwing herself into the tent, she ate a mouthful of bread and ham. After drinking a bag of fresh milk, she felt deeply tired and yawned heavily. Ji Ruoyi rubbed her pillow with her face, and after adjusting into the most comfortable position, she fell slowly fell asleep.
Yi Zhizhu swore that he had never seen anything so strange in his life. He looked at the bulging thing in front of him. Although there was a distance between them, he still heard uniform breathing coming from inside. Was there someone inside? He approached curiously to look for the opening to the tent, but he didn't know how the person inside had got in. Finally, he could not bear it. He grabbed the tent and threw it hard. The tent roared up into the sky. Then he did nothing, but a light flashed past. After a tearing sound, the good tent was cut in half by his sharp sword, and the person inside fell out intact.
Yi Zhizhu reached out to catch the fallen person, and he was immediately fascinated by her sleepy face. For twenty-four years, he had never been fascinated by any woman. However, he was fascinated by the strange woman in front of him.
It was not too bad to say that she was a strange woman, despite the light smile hung on her face. Her face was red, like a juicy peach. Her long eyelashes were close together, and there was sweat on her small but sharp nose. Because of falling out and touching the air in the mountains, she felt slightly uncomfortable. She moved in the arms of Yi Zhizhu and chose a more comfortable position to go on sleeping. What a strange goblin! But didn’t her clothes cover too little? Look, what was she wearing? She wore a T-s.h.i.+rt without collar and sleeve, and the lower part of her body was clad in super-short jeans that just barely covered the b.u.t.tocks. She wore NIE brand sports socks on her feet, and outside the socks was a pair of white sneakers. Wearing such little clothing, why did she dare to sleep outside? Wasn't she afraid of being gossiped about? Wasn't she afraid of being teased? Also, why had she appeared behind his home?
Looking around carefully, Yi Zhizhu found that there were many things around him that he didn't recognize. If he had guessed correctly, they were also hers, weren’t they? Although he felt it was strange, he didn't think much about it. His instinct was to leave the woman behind. Looking at she who slept soundly in his arms, Yi Zhizhu smiled. He hugged her and flew down the hill. He told the housekeeper to go up the hill and bring back all those strange things. Then he took Ji Ruoyi into his room. This left a stunned housekeeper with a ghostly look stuck in place and rubbing at his eyes vigorously.
Ah! Yawn!
Ji Ruoyi stretched herself hard and yawned. She turned over to continue to sleep. The smooth satin quilt is so comfortable; let me fall black asleep! Wait! Satin quilt? Ji Ruoyi, who was sideways, suddenly felt something was wrong. She opened her eyes immediately. Cloth curtain, carved wooden bed, wooden beams, wooden tables, wooden chairs, a man. . . Ah! A man!
Ji Ruoyi suddenly sat up. Just as I thought, something’s wrong! I was sleeping in a tent, so how could I end up in someone's room? And there is a man sitting here, looking at me, she thought in her heart. Although she knew she must be in the ancient times, she didn't know where she was. First of all, that needed to be clarified.
"Hi, h.e.l.lo!" Ji Ruoyi greeted the man who was sitting in the chair and drinking tea. This man looked really handsome. Although he was not her favorite type of cool man, he was rather quiet like a scholar. But not too much like one. He was not pedantic; instead, he emanated a very refres.h.i.+ng and pleasant feeling.
"You finally woke up!" Wow, even his voice was very good. It was like the sunset s.h.i.+ning on the body. Ji Ruoyi stared at the handsome man in front of her. Yi Zhizhu saw how lovely she was when she woke up. She stared. Sure enough, her eyes were the most beautiful in the whole world of facial features. Although at first he only saw her sleeping, he guessed that her eyes must be very beautiful; his expectations were met.
"I finally woke up? Did I sleep for a long time?" Ji Ruoyi asked doubtfully. She turned her head to look out the window; it was still sunny!
"Yes, you have been sleeping for more than twenty two-hour periods," Yi Zhizhu answered in a whisper.
"More than twenty two-hour periods?" Ji Ruoyi almost bit her tongue. Wasn't that more than forty hours? Was she a pig? When did she become so sleepy?
"Yes!" Yi Zhizhu looked at her annoyed expression, and could not help showing a faint smile. What happened to him? In addition to normal meals and rest, the balance of his time he’d spent sitting here watching over her, as if there was no more important thing than this. Because she was asleep for so long, he even thought that she wasn’t breathing. So he listened to her from time to time.
"Here. . . Is this your home?" Ji Ruoyi temporarily put aside her idea of being a pig, and continued to ask questions.
"Yes."
"Did you bring me back?"
"Yes."
"Did you bring back my things for me?"
"Yes."
"Thank you!"
Yi Zhizhu smiled and said nothing, but what Ji Ruoyi said next shocked him immediately.
"What dynasty is it?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, what is the dynasty here and what is the country name? Who is the emperor? Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, or Qing?" Looking at Yin Zhizhu's unclear eyes, Ji Ruoyi asked directly.
"I don't know what you mean by Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing. But now it is the seventh year of Qingyuan in the Tian Dynasty, and the emperor is Emperor Wu—Tian Ling." Yi Zhizhu frowned but answered Ji Ruoyi's question truthfully. Was she from a foreign country? Why didn't she even know who the emperor was? Looking at her dress, she was clearly not like the people of his own country, but even the people of the Di Dynasty should know that this was the Tian dynasty, and the emperor in Tian dynasty was Tian Ling! Did she lose her memory?
"Oh my G.o.d above!" Ji Ruoyi touched her forehead and groaned. Had there been a mistake? She wanted to go to the Tang Dynasty! Tang Dynasty! She wanted to see Princess Yang! Princess Yang! d.a.m.n Time-Travel Agency! She cursed again in her heart.
"‘My G.o.d?’ You have your own G.o.d? Who is this G.o.d of yours?" Was she part of some weird religious sect he hadn’t heard of?
"Oh, that’s not what I mean. It's just a saying in our city!" Ji Ruoyi smiled and waved. "Can I ask? What's your name?" She showed her teeth neatly to Yi Zhizhu.
"Yi Zhizhu."
"Ah? A pig?" ‘Yi Zhizhu’ sounded similar to ‘a pig’ in modern Mandarin. Ha, who would name their child that?
"It's Yi Zhizhu!" His forehead was covered with blue veins.
"Oh, it was Yi Zhizhu, and I thought it was a pig!" What a poetic name; but she was mistaken. She bit her tongue.
"Well, I'm sorry! My name is Ji Ruoyi. What a coincidence! There's the same character ‘Yi’ in our names! h.e.l.lo!" She stretched out her right hand to Yi Zhizhu.
"Er?!" Yi Zhizhu looked at the hand in front of his eyes, and he wondered what she was doing when she suddenly put out her hand.
"Well. This is a gesture of friendliness from our city!” Ji Ruoyi took Yi Zhizhu's hand and shook it, then put it down.
"So? Is that friendly?" Yi Zhizhu didn’t know why. Where was her city? Sure enough, she wasn’t a native. But there was no such custom in the Di Dynasty.
"Yes! In our city, our ancestors lived by hunting, and the world was full of dangers for them. Therefore, when strangers meet, if both sides are in good faith, they reach out with one hand, palm forward, and show each other that they have no stones or weapons in their hands. After approaching, they touch their right hand to show friends.h.i.+p. This will continue to be a friendly handshake for people over there. But there is another saying that in the Middle Ages, knights wore armor and were completely covered with the armor, except for their eyes. They were all wrapped in armor and ready to rush at the enemy. If you wish to show friends.h.i.+p when approaching each other, you should take off the armor of your right hand and stretch out your right hand to show that you have no weapons. Then they shake hands with each other. This is a symbol of peace." Ji Ruoyi had no trouble explaining it to Yi Zhuzhu.
The Middle Ages? Knights? What strange names were these? Where was she from?
"Where did you come from? Why did you appear on the hill of my home?" There was no emotion in the warm voice.
"What?” she screeched in English, before continuing in Mandarin. “The hill of your home? I climbed the backside of the hill of your home for a whole day and still hadn’t made it past?" Ji Ruoyi raised her voice in incredulity. Oh my G.o.d! What did his family do? What a huge backside to a hill! Did he have royal relatives? Unlikely, as he had no such tyranny about him! Was he from the family of Wulin? Also unlikely; he did not seem happy with that notion of killing! Was he the child of wealthy businessmen? Again, unlikely, as he didn't reek of that d.a.m.n bronze!
"Yes!" What was the meaning of ‘what?’ It was strange, what she said, but he answered her truthfully.
"That. . . " Ji Ruoyi, who was just about to speak, was suddenly interrupted by a sound in her backpack!
Swis.h.!.+ She did not see how Yi Zhizhu acted, but her whole backpack was obliterated. The ground was covered with debris, and a ringtone continued to scream.
