The next day, when Bai Yao woke up, she tried to remember everything that had happened last night.
It seemed that Zi Qin already knew she had someone in her heart. Her only hope was that he didn’t guess that it was him.
When she thought of Zi Qin, she shook her head to try throwing him out of her mind.
Bai Yao, you cannot think of him anymore. Don’t you forget how you died in the previous life? Don’t you remember who killed you? In this world, men are not trustworthy. Most of them are not honest. How could you rely on them? Who do you know that would treat you faithfully? A man as secretive as Zi Qin would not be your good mate. He didn’t deserve your belief. The only one you can trust in this world is yourself. Only you will not betray you.
When she came to this understanding, Bai Yao felt relaxed. And when her heart eased, the insect didn’t bite her anymore.
Each time when she went to face Zi Qin, she seldom talked to him, even about the practice. She’d rather go read books than think about the issue herself. Zi Qin also wanted her to forget this issue, so he didn’t ask about her as he had before.
They came to a mutual agreement to handle their own business.
Bai Yao focused on the practice of witchcraft and the insects. But now she was met with a bottleneck.
According to the book The Secrets of Witchcraft, her inner strength should be very strong. However, she felt that her inner strength was the same as before after the recent practice, and her witchcraft didn’t make any progress.
What was the reason?
She hadn't had this kind of situation before. Before the insect issue happened, she always fought with Zi Qin to check her achievements. However, they hadn't done this for a long time.
So, the practical experience with Zi Qin each time was more important than practicing alone?
But who could she ask to be her practice opponent? She couldn’t ask Zi Qin anymore. Whose witchcraft was as powerful as his was?
Her fingers tapped on the table beat by beat, her eyebrows twisted.
Soon, she thought of the best potential practice partner. Her eyebrows spread and a smile floated to her lips.
It is you!
The Lingyun attic, Shui Linger’s living quarters, decorated luxuriously.
In the morning, the white fog circled the three-story building. There was a little garden around the building, with a flowing fountain, and a waterside pavilion. The trees were verdant and the flowers were like jade. All the windows were carved fresh patterns. From this building, everybody see how the Elder spoiled her.
Bai Yao shook her head and despised the lavishness.
Shui Linger opened her door and found Bai Yao standing there. She was shocked and her sleepy eyes opened wilder. She asked her in a rude tone, “Bai Yao, why have you come to me before I had time to look for you?”
Bai Yao didn’t have time to quarrel with her, so she went straight to the point. “Shui Linger, how about having a fight with me?”
Shui Linger raised one eyebrow, thinking about this carefully. Is Bai Yao scheming? “What’s your purpose?” Shui Linger didn’t believe her.
“Why? Are you afraid? Are you afraid of losing?” Bai Yao saw her hesitation, so she challenged her.
Shui Linger was irritated and soon got back her fighting spirit. “Me? I won’t lose. You studied for only several months. How can I be defeated by you?”
“Since you are so confident, why not fight with me?” Bai Yao was satisfied with her reply. She wanted her to be rushed.
They went to the back of her building, where Shui Linger practiced. The backyard was beautiful, with all kinds of strange plants and flowers, which had special powers.
“Come on!” Shui Linger called to her, and she made a gesture to fly up to her.
Bai Yao also turned her wrist, and a ball of white fog of strength forged in her hand, growing bigger and bigger. When Shui Linger got to her, Bai Yao threw the ball at her. Shui Linger pa.s.sed the ball, and returned her a column of water. Bai Yao also was not afraid of her, and she faced her attack directly.
Bai Yao’s strategy surprised Shui Linger. She didn’t know why she was so straightforward. But the confusion did not last a long time. The next minute, she smiled and continued to fight Bai Yao even harder.
Wanna fight against a rock like me? Go die, Bai Yao!
Though Shui Linger had weaker strength than Bai Yao, she had practiced witchcraft since her childhood, so she was sure fight she could win this fight.
But she missed Bai Yao’s purpose. Bai Yao didn’t want to win—she wanted to break her bottleneck to upgrade her witchcraft, so she didn’t avoid her attacks.
Bai Yao and Shui Linger both put their full power into this fight. The white light of Bai Yao’s strength was raising, and Shui Linger spread her fingers to give her a blue stream of light. The two strengths met in the air directly. With a heavy boom, the trees were shocked and all the flower petals fell to the ground. Both of them were pushed backward by this confrontation of powers.
Shui Linger spouted out some blood. She had tried to hide this but failed. She didn’t guess Bai Yao would be so strong with only several months’ practice. She got a sense that Bai Yao would become her greatest enemy in the future.
Bai Yao also couldn’t afford to spit out a mouthful of blood. She wiped it off without caring. Shui Linger was a strong one, though she was an unruly lady.
“Bai Yao, today’s fight we are at a draw. Next time, I won’t be lenient.”
Though Shui Linger didn’t win, her imposing manner never changed.
“I will be waiting!” Bai Yao returned her similar att.i.tude. Though she was badly injured, she had broken the bottleneck.
The final hit by Shui Linger found a special breaking point for her. Her strength flowed from the point to pour through her whole body. Bai Yao found her steps lighter, and her body felt was so comfortable.
Taking this into concern, next time, if she did something bad to her again, she could forgive her, Bai Yao thought to herself.
She hurried back to her room to read the craft manual. Then she crossed her legs to start practicing. After this fight, she reached the fifth realm. According to the manual, there were nine realms for her to practice. n.o.body had broken into the final realm yet.
Now she had already arrived at the fifth realm, which was called Silence. The others were Empty Realm, Heavenly Realm, Original Realm, and Initial Realm. In nearly 100 years, no one had reached the Initial Realm.
This made Bai Yao decide to become the first one.
