Lan Xue had been secretly paying attention to the man in front of her. It has to be said that given Wei Mingyan's appearance, even if he was placed outside, he would still definitely charmed the ma.s.ses. Not to mention in their current environment wherein bald doctors were everywhere.
Strictly speaking, Wei Mingyan had just finished his interns.h.i.+p. Now he had to squeeze with a bunch of doctors in a large office. His salary is not high, but due to his face value, his popularity has been very good.
Human beings are really visual animals. Whether they are patients or nurses, faced with such a handsome doctor, their att.i.tude would be involuntarily better. Because of his family background, Wei Mingyan doesn't talk much, his expression is always stiff, and he rarely smiles. But who asked him to be so handsome?
In the eyes of many, a cold male G.o.d is actually very desirable. This kind of person is okay not to frequently smile.
Before knowing Lan Xue's ident.i.ty, his att.i.tude towards her has been always cold. However, after confirming that she was actually a useful p.a.w.n, he had a change of heart and began to appear like he's falling for her. In reality, it was all to make her his stepping stone.
"I, I've been asked to send a medical record over."
When Lan Xue saw the person in front of her, she couldn't help but feel nervous. She didn't really like to come to the hospital. She just started to quietly come over after inadvertently taking a glimpse of Wei Mingyan. Of course, every time she came, she was using her father as an excuse.
She became very active in helping her father in work, just to see him.
"Place it here."
Wei Mingyan briefly looked up and then quickly lowered his head. His voice was impatient, and based on his expression, it didn't look like he wanted to continue talking to Lan Xue.
Lan Xue was somewhat at lost, but the girl's face was thin. In the end, she didn't have the courage to strike a conversation with him. She put the medical record down on the table then stared at the man who didn't look up again. She turned around and went out.
She had always been very reluctant to be a doctor. Although she didn't protest when her father admitted her to a medical university, she still felt reluctant when thinking of having to perform surgery on the operating table.
Even though she had good grades and her practical results were not bad, Lan Xue was still afraid to become a doctor. She still remembered that when a child who had surgery died, his family stormed their home. Her mother, who had a heart attack at that time, died due to not receiving timely treatment.
When her dad said that no doctor can guarantee that his patients would stay alive after undergoing an operation, Lan Xue became more afraid.
She was afraid that she would not be able to cure her patient and was afraid of the patient's heartbroken family members. It was a given that in every step a doctor takes, an error was not an impossibility. The family members would clearly be informed of the risks, but they would push for it until something went wrong. By then, all mistakes would fall on the doctor. All the blames would be shoulder by the doctor. This thought was too heavy for Lan Xue who has been spoiled since young and had never walked out of her father's protection.
However, her father only had her as his daughter, and he has high hopes for her. Because of this, Lan Xue could only continue learning how to handle a scalpel.
She, who was very hesitant to come to their hospital, would go to the place and saw those wearing white coats walking around. It would always easily make her remember how her mother died. There were so many people dressed in white coats around, while she was sitting on the hospital's corridor. When she watched her mother being pushed out that time, her father hung his head low and his eyes red and swollen, his face had some blood on it due to being caught by his patient's family.
Now, however, sooner or later, she would have to be a doctor, not only for her future but also for her father.
She comes once a week, and then one day, she saw a man.
He was really fair-skinned. He was obviously a doctor as he was wearing a white coat. He was tall and slender. He was walking with her side by side.
The man was very handsome, and his lips were closed tight.
He had a serious expression on his white as a jade face, wearing a pair of gold-framed eyegla.s.ses.
Lan Xue had never seen such a handsome man before. Strictly speaking, she had never seen a doctor like him who looked so good.
Of course, at that time, she didn't have any idea who he was. She just thought that this doctor looked very handsome.
One day when she came to the hospital again, some family members of a patient were also in the hospital.
For ordinary people, medical treatment is a very far away matter. However, for Lan Xue whose father used to be a doctor – now a hospital's dean – she has seen doctors too many times.
Maybe because of money, or because of the lost life, even though no doctors could guarantee not making a mistake, it was still hard for them to accept.
Lan Xue tried to escape from the middle of the scene that broke out but was dragged by the family.
Despite her not wearing a white coat or a nurse uniform, those people did not care and just pushed and shoved people around, crying noisily.
Lan Xue had been stepped on several times, and some people even attempted to take advantage of her. She subconsciously screamed. Then suddenly, a hand appeared to stop that man trying to take advantage of her.
She looked up to see the owner of the slender and powerful hand, eventually facing that doctor's cold and unhappy face.
He stared at the other man coldly, and that person scared by this newcomer stepped back and joined the other crowd.
That time, Lan Xue had been embarra.s.sed and afraid. She gratefully looked at the handsome young doctor, wanting to thank him. He ignored her though, and continued to rescue the other nurses misfortunately caught in the violence that broke out.
In Lan Xue's eyes, although Wei Mingyan's character was cold, since he was willing to stand up for them when other doctors hid in their office, his personality must be good.
Since then, she became more and more grateful to this young doctor, but she was also afraid to approach him because she was never that courageous. On the other hand, since she's frequently visiting the hospital, Wei Mingyan began to feel accustomed to her. Then, after discovering that she was the dean's daughter, the luring and pursuit began, and Lan Xue started to really like this man.
She didn't know that when she died, that was when she made him feel very happy.
Wei Mingyan actually didn't want to come out that time when the riot happened, but the director did not understand him. He ordered him to go out and rescue the others even though he didn't want to go.
This was the reason that when he saved Lan Xue, his face was serious.
In reality, he was not happy at being sent out.
This had been initially a ha.s.sle for him, but afterwards, it grew into a wonderful misunderstanding.
After that day she got saved, the more Lan Xue thought that the man was no longer giving her a cold look, the more she thought that he was a good man.
Her heart became sweet again. However when she began thinking about how the man seemed to not care about her anymore, she a.s.sumed it was maybe he had no impression of her, and her heart became sour.
She was about to leave but accidentally saw Wei Mingyan who was still sitting holding his stomach with one hand. His sharp eyebrows were deeply wrinkled and he was sporting a painful expression.
Wei Mingyan took out his medicine from the drawer. He had forgotten to eat earlier. He did not go to the cafeteria to eat and now his stomach was hurting.
He held the medicine bottle in his hand. He didn't know if it's because it was in too much pain, his hand shook and the bottle slipped, landing on the floor and rolling to a distance.
Wei Mingyan frowned. He wanted to fetch the medicine bottle but when he stood up, his stomach became sorely painful. He subconsciously groaned and placed his hands on his stomach, his body curling up.
Lan Xue stared in shock then quickly pushed the door and rushed in.
