Chapter 26 Lin Hao’s Regrets What Xiao Teng said surprised me. What did it mean having no route to visit? He gave me an explanation. When anyone searched the forum through an engine, the browser might return a normal page, requiring the visitor to sign up or, or if a member, to log in. Registration required prospective members to submit a cell phone number or QQ number. But Xiao Teng had failed this process many times. He told me that they already knew his true ident.i.ty when he was trying to register. So, not everyone had the chance to visit.   I was confused by him. Everything told about the forum was so weird until now. They shared some evil posts after midnight, while also helping people commit crimes.    Now even the registration procedure was limited. At this moment, Chu Haoran walked slowly toward them as he waved his hand at Lin Hao. “Stand up," he said. "I have something more to talk with you about.” When I saw him, I realized that there was still some formal work to be done. Lin Hao had hid some clues from us. For example, he hadn't told us about Ji Fengjun’s deeds. 　 Besides, when he was waiting in the The Other Sh.o.r.e restaurant, he wanted to leave with her. This idea came to me after I heard the confession of Ji Fengjun. That truth explained why Ji Fengjun sometimes felt peaceful, and in other moments, she became uneasy. Moreover, she didn’t see him because she didn’t want to bring him trouble. “Since she doesn’t want to see me, I can leave now,” Lin Hao said in a hoa.r.s.e voice as he stood up. But Chu Haoran shook his head. “You can’t leave now.” Lin Hao lifted up his head and looked at us with eyes full of sorrow. “Why? What’s wrong with me?” “Follow me in. Let’s talk about this.” Chu Haoran turned to lead him into the interrogation room, but a surprising ring from Chu’s phone broke this action. After listening to the phone carefully, he became serious and twisted his eyebrows. “What?”   Ji Fengjun had committed suicide. n.o.body knew she had hidden a small razor blade in her underwear. She cut her throat in the car as quick as she could, giving no one the chance to stop her. Chu and I faced each other. Though we knew she wouldn’t live long, we never thought she might end her life in this way. The shock sent a sudden weakness through Lin Hao and he couldn’t support his body when he heard this. He leaned on the wall and then fell to the ground as his strength completely failed him. Tears s.h.i.+ned in his eyes and he began to sob. Xiao Teng turned to us, looking up from his notebook. He asked, “Did I miss anything?”   I took a deep breath, not answering him. Now I understood her feelings after being arrested. She had made up her mind, so she was eager to cooperate with us. It was half an hour later that Lin Hao grew calm and easy again. Chu Haoran took him to the room. He already guessed what Chu wanted to ask him before he entered the room. In the room, Lin Hao was composed again, but during the whole process, he kept his head lowered and didn’t answer Chu Haoran’s questions. I guessed that his heart was already dead, because the woman he loved had died. After some time, when I started to yawn, and then he spoke. “I planned to take her away and leave this city when I guessed that she might be doing some bad things.” “What did you say to her when you called her?” Chu Haoran asked. Lin Hao kept silent for a little while and then he answered, “I confronted her and said I will handle the issue for her. Whatever happens, I won’t leave her alone to face any situation. I will take her away and we can start our live anew in a new city. . . I also said I loved her, and this didn’t change.” His words impressed me even after this issue pa.s.sed for a long time. His expression was serious, proving a strong mind. At that moment, I felt that he was not that unforgivable. Still, why hadn't he realized the importance of love? This awareness was too late.     Maybe Ji Fengjun felt relaxed after hearing his confession. Though she understood Lin Hao was not so bad, and she had done wrong, too many things had happened and they couldn’t change the ending. So though she knew he was waiting in the restaurant, she didn’t appear. However, she chose to leave this city alone. She never thought the police were so quick. Lin Hao was taken away. He had harbored a criminal. Though love was worthy of pursuing, the damage was also truly real.   “Zhu Xuan, I thought the person who ran this forum must be an abnormal sort.” Xiao Teng was frustrated as he pushed the notebook ahead of him. I had thought the same. “An abnormal talent hacker.” This case was well done; the only task left was to submit a profile. The result was satisfying. So I asked Chu Haoran, “Sir, may we have a few days to rest?” I was kneading my sore neck. I hadn't slept well these days.  Chu Haoran stilled his hands. “You spoke my thoughts.” Xiao Teng and I both gritted our teeth. At least I left earlier today, and I soaked in the bathtub for a long time. With several days’ of weariness still in me, I laid heavily on the bed. But I set the alarm clock for twelve—midnight. I wanted to check the mysterious forum’s tricks. When I was in a deep sleep, I heard the annoying ringing of the alarm. At first, I didn’t want to take care of the sound, but finally I woke up and realized what it meant. I opened my eyes to find the hands were pointing at twelve o’clock.    I searched for the forum and found the web page. Then I got the idea of registering a new QQ number. I waited there for fifteen minutes, with some uncertainty. In any case, Xiao Teng was a hacker or he hadn't made it. But after more seconds ticked by, the system noticed me that the registration was successful. Soon the page turned dark. After a while, some flas.h.i.+ng golden points appeared on the screen, and they got closer, to aggregate into an angel with wings, which shone in stark contrast to the dark background.
