She shook her head.
"I have begun to wonder... Oh. Here." She handed me a phone. "Patrick gave me this to give to you. He initially took it as evidence. It belongs to your teammate, Drew Van Vleet. He thought maybe you could get it back to him."
"Former teammate," I said. The sick puppy-filming unsuspecting nude sliders."
I thought a second. Nude sliders?
"Holy heinies!" I said, and was about to try to access the phone when my own phone rang.
I looked at the display.
Speak of the devil.
"Van Vleet?"
"I hear you have my phone," Van Vleet said.
"As a matter of fact, I do," I said. "I was just about to view some video," I added.
"Sorry. It's security protected," he said.
Rats.
"But if you would care to peruse some of the content, I'll text you the link via my iPad. And don't lose my phone!"
A second later my phone dinged. I opened the link-and stared at a video showing a certain bald Yeoman hitching a ride with a skinny, naked guy down a water slide. Part two featured Reality Red, cast as Uhura, racing a naked Dixie Doodle to the finish line.
"Oh. My. G.o.d."
"Tressa? What is it? What's wrong?" Townsend asked.
"Those black hose make my thighs look huge!" I said.
"What?" Taylor said.
"The heat's gotten to her," Rick said. "She needs to lie down."
"That's okay, because it looks like we'll be taking the RV home," Taylor said. "Now that Mom and Dad are going to travel in style."
"What say, you drive my car back to Grandville, and we'll take the RV?" I heard Townsend suggest.
"I guess that could work," Taylor said, with a Mona Lisa smile.
I looked at Townsend.
"We-?"
He put his fingers over my lips.
"Do not attempt to challenge me, Earthling," he said. "Resistance is futile."
I sighed. Seemed my stint as Team Trekkie Captain was at an end. I'd been demoted.
Yeoman Turner to Scotty: Scotty, turns out there is intelligent life down here, after all.
You beam me up now-and you're s.p.a.ce debris.
