The Most Majestic You
Chapter 24 Part 2
Qianxi wasn’t with them on the ambulance and arrived at the hospital sometime later.
On her way there she kept checking the online comments. There were many fans on the official Weibo asking about Cheng Yang’s condition, whether the conflict between KG and R.Y was true. There were some even outrageously suggesting that KG had rigged the game. She replied privately to each of the postings until she found out that she couldn’t really handle all of them.
She felt so helpless.
She felt like they were overwhelmed by doubt yet she couldn’t refute them all.
He must be feeling the same way.
It was the same hallway. The difference was that he wasn’t holding his cigarette box, but his cell phone.
It was obviously the kind of questions that were coming through on the other end of the phone. He calmly answered with, “yes,” “yes,” “we’ll be back the day after tomorrow.” He finished the phone conversation with “sorry.”
He added, “It’s our own problem.”
She walked in front of him when he hung up the phone. Xu Jimo told her without asking, “It’s the sponsor.”
“En.”
With a gloomy face, he continued, “You went to see your uncle?”
“En……” She had almost been persuaded by her uncle.
“Do you plan to go back with him?”
“How do you know?” Qianxi raised her head amazed. Then she realized that she had a slip of the tongue and tried to rectify, “I’m just leaving a little bit earlier, since you guys will leave soon……” She immediately regretted-- --mentioning going back. No matter how she put it, it was reminding him that the compet.i.tion was over, right at the point when he just started. It was aborted prematurely.
How could she be so inconsiderate!
Her words not only revealed that she had been contemplating of leaving early, it also hit his current sore spot.
She wanted to sew her mouth shut!
However, Xu Jimo simply nodded and said, “I knew it when she said your uncle was coming here.”
Everyone had his own path to walk down, to the place he belonged. A runaway kid will always go back to her warm castle.
He asked, “When are you leaving?”
Qianxi wasn’t in a clear mind, “Tomorrow…...morning.”
It seemed to be a seven o’clock fight. She had to pack her luggage tonight.
It seemed to be quite a rush.
She wasn’t able to comfort him, really it seemed to have made things worse for him. She depressedly went back to her hotel room, dropping onto her bed listlessly to sleep till dark.
She ate random stuff for dinner, then started to pack her clothes, shoes, computer, and pa.s.sport…...into the suitcase, just like the time she ran away from home.
In the end, she pulled on the zipper on the suitcase with great effort, sat on top of it and became lost in thought.
She kept feeling that she was missing something.
Everytime, she packed her bag to go away, there were thousands of voices in her head shouting-- --you must have forgotten something, there must be something you missed!
Nevermind…...she would never remember before she left. She would only discover after she arrived at her destination and opened her suitcase that she had forgotten to bring this and that.
She could never make a perfect decision just like how she could never pack a perfect suitcase.
The next morning, Xu Zang was happy to see her at the airport.
A long flight with the accompanying jet lag and messed up sleep disturbed her immune system. Qianxi got a bad headache once she arrived back in China, which developed into a cold.
When Xu Zang brought Qianxi home, he didn’t even have to put in a good word for her in front of her parents. Her mother almost cried when she saw the sickly Qianxi with a burning forehead.
To her mother, her pampered daughter had suffered a lot since she left home. Therefore, there wasn’t a need to scold her. Qianxi was forced to have some dinner.
They treated her too much like a kid……
She protested, “Mom……”
Her mother place her in the bed, brought out the thermometer, “Don’t talk, sleep well. Don’t tell me you have jet lag. Just take a nap. Get well first before we talk.”
Before her mother pulled the blanket all the way up, Qianxi struggled to keep her chin out of the blanket, “Mom…...where’s dad?”
“You still remember to care about him?” Her mom got upset, “He’s gone on a business trip right after he got well. He just won’t listen to me. So don’t be like you dad! Sleep well!”
Qianxi watched her mom’s expression and…...gave up.
Alright, it was better to have a sweet mom than a mom who had eaten explosives.
She closed her eyes and focused on being a model patient.
Her mom backed out the room and closed the door for her. Qianxi, under the blanket, was finding it more and more difficult to fall asleep.
It was her own home, her own room, and her own bed. Why did they all feel so strange to her now? She kept missing the hotel in Seattle, the bed in the hotel room.
That bed in the hotel was a very ordinary bed. Unlike the bed at home, she had upgraded the mattress and all the beddings, using all the top quality materials she could find. It was so comfortable that her girl friends who had slept on it for just one night refused to get off.
But now she couldn’t fall asleep on this comfortable bed.
She stared at the ceiling and thought about that man. What was he doing at this moment…...was he still upset?
