Legend of Legend – Chapter 6

< legend="" of="" legend(lol)-awakening(2)="">

They walked on for one more hour. Eventually, the black man couldn’t walk any further, so they decided to take a rest in the middle of the road. The forest’s shadow somehow gave them a bad feeling, so they distanced themselves from the forest.

While they were resting in the middle of the road, the black man spoke first.

“Michael.” (TLN:EN)

“Michael?” (TLN: KR)

“Yes.”(TLN:EN)

“Joonhyuk Lee.” (TLN: KR)

As soon as Lee-joonhyuk pointed to himself, Michael made a smile. When he saw the smile that revealed white teeth, Lee-joonhyuk matched his smile.

He wasn’t that proficient in English, but he knew how to introduce himself. Lee-joonhyuk’s hand pointed toward Michael’s leg. Michael looked at his own leg then he took off his armor.

Then he showed him his swollen ankle. Lee-joonhyuk wasn’t sure how he was able to walk on that leg for an hour. Lee-joonhyuk looked around his surrounding for a moment.

After thinking for a moment, Lee-joonhyuk lifted the sword he had received in the beginning.

He unsheathed his sword, then he started to cut Michael’s pants. He place his sword next to his leg, and he wound the cloth around it. Michael was taken aback as he watched him. Afterwards, Michael tried to give his own sword to him.

Lee-joonhyuk shook his, and he showed him his s.h.i.+eld.

“I’ll be fine with just this.”

Any ways, he had never thought about cutting someone. If he was in a dangerous situation, he thought the s.h.i.+eld would be of more help.

Lee-joonhyuk looked at Michael as he spoke.

“Should we go?”

He stood up then he mimed walking. As Michael saw him, he nodded his head, then he got up. Fortunately, only his right leg was hurt, so Lee-joonhyuk was able to support him from the left side. Lee-joonhyuk went to his left to support him, and his left hand held up the s.h.i.+eld. Michael fastened the s.h.i.+eld on his back, and he held his sword.

The two of them started to walk again. By looking at their pace, it would be a long time before they would catch up to the others.

As they were walking, Lee-joonhyuk suddenly felt a chill, so he stopped walking. Michael looked over once at Lee-joonhyuk, and he looked around his surrounding as his face hardened.

Rustle.

Accompanying the small sound, an ox-sized wolf showed itself between the trees in front them.
Michael, who was being supported, started to shake. Lee-joonhyuk tightened the grip on other’s side, and he spoke.

“Don’t be scared.”

“What?” (TLN: EN)

Lee-joonhyuk raised his s.h.i.+eld and spoke.

“I’ll block and you stab.”

Michael looked at Lee-joonhyuk’s s.h.i.+eld, and he raised his own sword. Lee-joonhyuk nodded his head, then he spoke once more.

“I’ll block and you’ll stab.”

“You are on defense. I’m attacking?”(TLN: EN – You defence. Me attack?~I modified it)

He had some experience playing some games, so he understood those English words.

“Ok.”

Lee-joonhyuk let go of the arm he was supporting, and he grabbed the s.h.i.+eld with two hands. When the wolf saw Lee-joonhyuk step forward, it lowered its body to the ground.

It was as big as an ox, so even though it lowered its body to the ground, it still reached the height of Lee-joonhyuk’s waist. Lee-joonhyuk felt Michael tighten his grip on his shoulder, so he stepped forward again.

Roar!

The wolf pounced upwards, and Lee-joonhyuk raised his s.h.i.+eld.

Tuh-ung!

The wolf’s front paws stepped on the s.h.i.+eld, and it raised its head to bite at Lee-joonhyuk. Lee-joonhyuk clenched his teeth as he felt the weight of wolf transfer onto the s.h.i.+eld. He raised his arms, and he ducked under the s.h.i.+eld. At that moment, Michael swung his sword.

Kwa-kak.

The wolf bit down on the sword swung by Micahel, and it twisted its head to wrest the the sword away from him. Michael had held the sword with both hands, but the wolf’s strength was stronger than he had expected.

The nervous Lee-joonhyuk gripped his s.h.i.+eld again as he spoke.

“Run away.”

“What?” (TLN: EN)

Lee-joonhyuk knew that he wasn’t some kind of saint, who would sacrifice his own life for another. However, when confronted with the choice, he couldn’t run away when there was an injured person in front of him.

He felt a fiery sensation coming from below his chest, and he let this sensation take over his body. He yelled as he ran forward with the s.h.i.+eld in front of him.

“Run!” (TLN: EN)

After shouting this word, he ran towards the wolf. The wolf jumped towards him as Lee-joonhyuk ran at it. When he saw the wolf jump towards his head, Lee-joonhyuk raised his s.h.i.+eld at an angle.

Growl! Kwak!

The wolf tried to push its head over the s.h.i.+eld to maul him, but Lee-joonhyuk stuck close to the s.h.i.+eld as he avoided being bitten. He knew this was only delaying the inevitable, but this was the only thing he could do.

Lee-joonhyuk put his strength into the s.h.i.+eld then he turned to look at Michael. Michael stared at Lee-joonhyuk with a hardened face, then he ran towards them. He had grabbed the sword that was used as a splint. Michael charged forth, and he stabbed down with the sword.

However, the wolf’s head was located too high. Lee-joonhyuk remembered that the wolf’s reflex was good, so he lowered his s.h.i.+eld for a brief moment.

The wolf lost its balance, and Michael’s sword fell on it.

Keh-eng!

Michael’s sword was embedded into the wolf’s shoulder. Before they could rejoice, the wolf bit into Michael’s throat.

“Kuk!”

Lee-joonhyuk looked over his s.h.i.+eld to see the wolf biting into Michael’s throat. Michael, who was bitten by the wolf, started to convulse. This sight was so surreal.

At that moment, Michael looked at Lee-joonhyuk, and he opened his mouth.

“Run away.” (TLN: EN)

He barely said those words before Michael’s neck was severed by the wolf. When he saw Michael’s head roll onto the floor, Lee-joonhyuk realized something.

The wolf was an existent a human couldn’t deal with.

Growl.

The wolf slowly turned around, and he could see blood dripping from its mouth. When he saw this, Lee-joonhyuk’s eyes were filled with terror. There was nothing more dangerous than an injured wild animal.

Lee-joonhyuk started slowly backing up. The wolf, who was watching Lee-joonhyuk, lowered itself before it chased after him.

“Ooh ahhhhh!”

Lee-joonhyuk ran away in fright, but the wolf’s speed was much faster. If it wasn’t for the sword embedded in the wolf’s shoulder, he would have been caught much earlier.

As he was running away, Lee-joonhyuk felt a chill, so he turned around and he raised his s.h.i.+eld.

Tuh-ung!

He wasn’t in a proper position, so he couldn’t handle the wolf’s weight. Lee-joonhyuk was pushed onto the floor by the weight. Only a s.h.i.+eld separated him from the wolf, and it climbed on top of Lee-joonhyuk.

The wolf opened its mouth towards Lee-joonhyuk, and blood dripped down from around its mouth. The moment he saw Michael’s blood, he shut his eyes in terror.

Growl.

He felt the wolf’s breath on his face. The thought that he might die entered his thoughts, and it caused Lee-joonhyuk to yell reflexively.

“No!”

Ka-ahng!

Lee-joonhyuk opened his eyes at the unexpected sound. In front of Lee-joonhyuk’s eyes, there was a ivory colored s.h.i.+eld of light, and he could see the wolf trying to bite through it from outside.

However, the barrier of light didn’t break easily.

Lee-joonhyuk didn’t know what had happened, but he was still alive. At that thought, he put his two hand against the s.h.i.+eld. Then he gathered his feet, and he pressed them against the s.h.i.+eld. With all his might, he pushed the s.h.i.+eld with his feet. Lee-joonhyuk gained some separation from the wolf, so he stood up. The ivory colored barrier of light was surrounding his body. This had blocked the wolf’s teeth.

Lee-joonhyuk got his breath back, and he raised his s.h.i.+eld again. While he was doing this, the wolf lowered its posture. It was getting ready rush in at any moment. He had some idea how far it could jump, so he retreated backwards a little bit.

The ivory colored light barrier blurred and it disappeared. The wolf slowly shortened the distance between the two, and Lee-joonhyuk’s back-pedaling steadily gained speed.

Tuk.

Lee-joonhyuk felt something touch his back, so he turned his head in surprise. He saw the giant man standing behind his back.

“Did your ability Awaken?”

Before he could ask a question, the wolf flew towards them. When the large man saw the wolf jump, he brought out a sword from somewhere then he swung it.

Ssssahk!

The running wolf was cut into two exact pieces. The wolf’s body, which was split from side to side, sprayed a ma.s.sive amount of blood, and it splashed all over Lee-joonhyuk. The man, who easily split the wolf, walked past Lee-joonhyuk, and he approached Michael’s corpse.

Michael’s corpse was blurring as it changed.

When Michael’s corpse disappeared entirely, the man picked up a gold coin from where the body used to be. The gold coin let out a soft light.
The man tossed the gold coin he picked up to Lee-joonhyuk.

When Lee-joonhyuk received it, the man approached him as he smirked. The man looked at Lee-joonhyuk, who was dripping with blood, then he opened his mouth.

“Congratulations. Minion.”

He walked past Lee-joonhyuk. As if he had thought of something, the man stopped and he slowly turned towards Lee-joonhyuk. Then the man spoke a word towards him.

“I’m Atlan.”

He wasn’t curious about the man’s name. Michael had died in front of his eyes, and he had disappeared. Moreover, what was that ivory colored light barrier? Even though the man said his ability had Awakened, he didn’t understand what that meant. Atlan walked on as if he didn’t have anything else to say.

When the wolf’s carca.s.s disappeared, two gold coins remained, and he spoke as he picked it up.

“Follow me.”

Lee-joonhyuk stood still in place, and he spoke as he looked at Atlan’s back.

“Please give me an explanation.”

“An explanation?”

Atlan turned around, and he studied Lee-joonhyuk. Then the corner of his mouth lifted. The moment the man smiled, he remembered a person died the previous time the man smiled. Lee-joonhyuk raised his s.h.i.+eld reflexively.

Boom!

There was enough force to crumple the s.h.i.+eld, and it caused him to roll on the ground. Then Atlan jumped towards Lee-joonhyuk. He was 2.5 meters tall, but he had jumped a height of 3 meters. Lee-joonhyuk hid his body beneath the s.h.i.+eld on reflex, and he clenched his eyes shut.

He couldn’t die here. He had survived the wolf. He couldn’t die like this.

At that moment, something moved within his chest. Before he could understand what this was, he heard an unexpected sound.

Tuh-ung!

When Lee-joonhyuk opened his eyes, the ivory colored light barrier was in front of him. Atlan lightly tapped at it, and he let out a laugh.

“You definitely Awakened your ability.”

Atlan stepped back one step.  Lee-joonhyuk was barely able to stand up, and as he did, the light barrier disappeared. As if he had been waiting for this moment, Atlan approached him, and he grabbed onto Lee-joonhyuk’s neck.

“Kuk!”

Atlan lifted Lee-joonhyuk with one hand. When they were eye to eye, he opened his mouth.

“A minion dares to question me? What qualifications do you have to ask me a question?”

Blood wasn’t flowing to his head, so one could see veins stand out on Lee-joonhyuk’s face. Atlan silently stared at Lee-joonhyuk, then he tossed him to the floor.

He spoke.

“Follow me.”

When he saw Atlan’s madness-filled eyes, he didn’t dare question him again. Atlan also didn’t believe Lee-joonhyuk would argue with him, so he turned around and he started to walk.

Lee-joonhyuk rubbed his neck once, then he picked up his s.h.i.+eld. Then he walked to where the wolf disappeared, and he picked up his sword. He fastened the sword to his waist, then he followed after Atlan.

Atlan had treated him harshly, but he had rescued him from the wolf. Therefore, he had no choice but to follow the man if he wanted to survive this place.
