Chapter 106 – Saving A Life

“Fourth Uncle.” Everyone looked over when they saw this man walk in.
The Third Patriarch frowned as he asked, “Old Fourth, is that really the case?” Everyone’s gaze was now on this man.
This person was Yuan Tian Ju, and had just turned 40-years-old. He was muscular and well-built, and was one of the excellent Pill Refiners in the Yuan family. It was him who had suppressed Yuan Wan Ting’s poison. However, even though he knew how to treat the poison, he could not obtain a Sun Essence Fruit, making him powerless to cure the poison.
“Mm.” The Fourth Patriarch walked over and nodded.
The Third Patriarch asked with hope in his eyes, “Were you able to refine any other medicinal pills?”
“I’ve tried subst.i.tuting the Sun Essence Fruit for many other things with Yang Qi or Fire Essence Qi, but they all refuse to fuse with the other medicinal ingredients, and cannot be refined into a pill. It will be very difficult if you want to completely cure this girl’s poison!” Yuan Tian Ju sighed, feeling helpless as he looked at his niece.
“What should we do then?” Everyone present deeply frowned. Could they only watch this junior die?
Yuan Tian Ju also frowned as he sighed, “Wanting to save Ting’Er will be very difficult!”
The Yuan family had long since sent people to contact their ancestor in the Heaven Origin Sect. However, Sun Essence Fruits were incredibly rare, and they still could not find one.
Furthermore, that ancestor was completely devoted to reaching a higher realm in the way of pill refining, and very rarely concerned himself with the family’s matters. Asking him to do so much was very difficult – after all, after a person reached certain heights, they would become indifferent to most things.
“That’s right, young sir Xiao, you said that you wanted to try; how much confidence do you have?” Suddenly, the Third Patriarch’s eyes lit up, looking at the youth beside him in hope. Now, they could only rely on this youth.
Xiao Yun shrugged as he said, “I’ll try. As for whether I’ll be able to cure Miss Yuan’s poison depends on the Moon Demon Poison’s characteristics. At the very least, I’ll be able to stabilise the poison and help her stay alive. I won’t be able to promise anything else.”
The other youths coldly said, “What arrogant words. You think you’ll be able to save little sister Wan Ting’s life?”
The Third Patriarch chided him, “Shut up, Yuan Meng!”
“Third uncle!” The youth called Yuan Meng frowned and asked, “Do you really trust him?”
“Ting’Er’s life is in danger, and yet you’re all stirring up trouble, you disgraces! Get out!” The Eldest Patriarch turned and coldly said, “Don’t think about getting any money this month!”
“But-” The youths were infuriated, and spitefully glared at Xiao Yun.
Even though a few of the elders felt quite doubtful about Xiao Yun, they did not say anything. After all, they knew that since there was no other way, there would be no harm in letting this youth try.
“You all go out as well.” One of the elders spoke to the rest of the younger generation. The other youths could only gnash their teeth and angrily leave.
The Third Patriarch asked in hope, “Young sir Xiao, do you have any way to alleviate my daughter’s poison?” Everyone else also looked on in curiosity – none of them could think of how this youth could stabilise the poison. After all, this Moon Demon Poison was extremely domineering, and even True Essence realm cultivators could not suppress it.
Xiao Yun smiled as he said, “I naturally have my methods. I wonder if it would be convenient for everyone to leave for a while?”
Everyone felt quite surprised. “Leave? Is that really necessary?”
However, Yuan Tian Ju and the Eldest Patriarch felt even more curious.
“Alright, we’ll leave for a while,” the Third Patriarch said with a serious expression as he motioned to the others. Since the Third Patriarch had spoken, everyone else could only agree.
The Third Patriarch softly said to his daughter, “Ting’Er, this young sir Xiao is an amazing physician sent by your uncle Yuan Xu, and has come to help you with your poison. Do your best to help him. Don’t worry, we won’t abandon you. No matter what, father will save you.”
“Mm.” Yuan Wan Ting blinked with her hazy eyes.
“Let’s go.” The Third Patriarch deeply breathed in as he got up and said, “Young sir Xiao, we’ll leave this to you.”
“Please rest a.s.sured, Third Patriarch,” Xiao Yun said as he cupped his hands respectfully.
After this, everyone went outside to wait.
Only Xiao Yun was left in the room. He walked over to the sickly girl, feeling an ache within his heart. A girl in the most vibrant season of her life was reduced to such a state – he could only feel sympathetic.
“I’m going to help you extract your poison from your palms, so please forgive me for any rudeness,” Xiao Yun said to the girl.
Yuan Wan Ting nodded, her consciousness incredibly hazy; she was about to fall unconscious. She did not even have the strength to speak anymore.
Xiao Yun did not dally, and grabbed Yuan Wan Ting’s hand. Her hand was not soft or tender as a normal girl’s was, but was incredibly dry and wrinkled, like an elderly person’s hand, one of the effects of the poison. This caused Xiao Yun’s heart to ache even more.
Xiao Yun shook his head and activated his Martial Spirit. A jade-green light shone out of his palms as he started to extract the poison from within Yuan Wan Ting’s body. From his Martial Spirit’s senses, Xiao Yun gradually developed an understanding of the Moon Demon Poison.
The Moon Demon Poison was an extremely tenacious type of demonic poison. If the victim did not consume the right medicine, only their symptoms could be treated, not the root of the poison. Normal Antidote Pills would be unable to cleanse the poison within Yuan Wan Ting’s body.
Furthermore, the poison seemed to originate within her blood vessels, so wanting to completely get rid of it was as difficult as scaling the heavens. For Yuan Wan Ting to live until now was already a miracle.
This Moon Demon Poison was incredibly difficult to deal with. Once an ordinary person was poisoned, it would be incredibly difficult for them to recover. Luckily, Xiao Yun’s Martial Spirit had become stronger – otherwise, even he would not dare to extract this sort of poison. The Martial Spirit’s jade-green light felt incredibly profound, easily absorbing the poison and turning it into Essence Qi to be used by itself.
“How can I completely cure her without a Sun Essence Fruit?” As Xiao Yun extracted the poison, he wondered how he could completely eliminate this poison. As he extracted the poison, he found that the poison was continuously being created within her body, which would lead to grave problems. This was quite similar to the Chilling Qi within Xiao Ling’Er’s body, but was not as terrifying.
It was not difficult to imagine that the next time this poison broke out, this girl would most likely die. When that happened, even Xiao Yun’s Martial Spirit would not be able to save her.
The extracting of the poison lasted for the entire night. By the end, Xiao Yun was completely exhausted, but he had also come up with a plan.
Early in the morning, as the sun rose, Yuan Wan Ting’s body stopped producing Moon Demon Poison, and Xiao Yun finally completely extracted the poison. For now, the girl had kept her life, but it would be difficult to say next time. After all, how could he just coincidentally be here when it happened?
“My poison has been cleansed?” As sunlight began to stream into the room, Yuan Wan Ting blinked with her long eyelashes as she opened her eyes.
She had been too tired the previous day, and had unknowingly fallen asleep.
“I’ve only extracted the poison that’s broken out within your body. However, the poison’s still within your blood vessels,” Xiao Yun said. This girl’s poison was deep within her blood vessels and bone marrow. Even if all of the blood in her body was replaced, the situation would not be resolved, because this was something she had been born with.
“Haha, I knew this would happen,” Yuan Wan Ting smiled, speaking in a clear and pleasant voice. If one did not look at her appearance, they would have thought that this voice belonged to a celestial G.o.ddess. Even Xiao Yun’s heart trembled at the sound of her voice.
Xiao Yun felt as if he was looking at his little sister. Even though this girl was smiling, she was definitely feeling incredibly helpless.
“Have a good rest,” Xiao Yun said. “I’ll think of a way to completely rid you of this poison.”
This Yuan Wan Ting and Xiao Ling’Er were too similar, causing Xiao Yun’s heartstrings to be tugged. He silently vowed to completely cure this girl from her poison.
“Thank you for this,” Yuan Wan Ting smiled. She did not say much apart from this sincere word of thanks.
“You’re welcome,” Xiao Yun said, and opened the door.
Outside, the Third Patriarch and the others were anxiously waiting. They had waited through the entire night, and had not left. The few youths had left, but had returned early in the morning. Of course, they were not here to see if Yuan Wan Ting had recovered – they knew that their cousin was more or less a lost cause. Rather, they had come here early in the morning to mock Xiao Yun. This fellow, who was a year or two younger than them, thought that he was some divine physician? Did he think they were fools? Those youths felt quite displeased towards him.
When Xiao Yun came out, the Third Patriarch hurriedly went up and asked, “Young sir Xiao, how is Ting’Er?”
“I’ve stabilised her poison. However, completely getting rid of it will be difficult,” Xiao Yun said as he sighed.
“It’s good that you’ve stabilised it; that’s great, that’s great.” The Third Patriarch sighed in relief.
“He’s already stabilised it?” Yuan Tian Ju frowned, feeling that this was unbelievable.
“He definitely used an Antidote Pill,” some of the youths said after they recovered from their surprise.
“Antidote Pill?” Xiao Yun raised his eyebrows and looked at the youths, but did not say anymore.
“I’ll go inside to have a look.” Yuan Tian Ju hurriedly went into the room. If it really was an Antidote Pill, he would be able to tell.
The Third Patriarch and Xiao Yun also entered. However, Xiao Yun felt quite calm – it was only natural that these people could not believe it. After all, there were very few people in the world who could use their Martial Spirits to extract poison like him.
After entering the room, Yuan Tian Ju’s eyes lit up. This was because Yuan Wan Ting’s aura had already recovered, and her eyes were no longer lifeless. What was even more shocking was that there was no putrid smell within the room, which made him feel incredibly confused.
If Xiao Yun had used an Antidote Pill, the poison would have been expelled from Yuan Wan Ting’s body, causing the entire room to stink. And yet, the air inside this room was fresh and pure!
“Could this youth really have some sort of special method?” As a Pill Refiner, Yuan Tian Ju knew just how terrifying the Moon Demon Poison was. If this youth had used his own abilities to extract that poison, what did that mean? It would be enough to shock the world! Just like that, Yuan Tian Ju stared at the youth in deep shock.
“Old Fourth, what is it?” When he saw Yuan Tian Ju’s expression, the Third Patriarch frowned, feeling that there was something strange.
“Hmph, that boy definitely used an Antidote Pill,” the other youths coldly muttered.
