Chapter 2 – Encounter with (Self-Proclaimed) G.o.d 

There was a bright, mysterious and unfamiliar place before me.

I can't recognize black or white, and yet the color is not grey, neither can I distinct between top and bottom or grasp the room my field of vision is filled up with.

For a long time I worked as an a.s.sa.s.sin, but in my final years I spent my daily adventures days along with the other heroes, I mastered the scout occupation.

My perception ability is normal, but I can't grasp the circ.u.mstances at all.

"h.e.l.lo~"

"Who's there?!"

I heard a lazy voice all of sudden.

I can't tell whose voice is that, nor from where it came.

But the voice's owner appeared right before my eyes.

As if pus.h.i.+ng aside the white and black clouds, a small shadow appears in front of me.

Though she's standing right before me, I really can't feel her presence at all.

No, on the contrary I can understand she's a woman, but I can't recognize her face at all.

I see her face. Her silver hair, her red eyes and her beautiful white skin. But I'm not able to recognize those combinations.

"Who are you…"

"Me? I'm G.o.d."

She introduces herself as G.o.d, her voice without an ounce of dignity at all.

No, I don't remember the nature of her voice. I can only understand it's a beautiful voice, but I have no memories of it.

"What's the meaning of this? Why can't I remember…?"

"Ah, that? That's my doing. I'm G.o.d after all. It'll result in a SAN check[1] if you look directly at me?"

"Sa…n…What?"

"No~, don't worry about it. In other words, it's good if you think I'm obstructing your recognition in this manner."

"This is s.p.a.ce too?"

The existence that claimed to be G.o.d is obstructing my perception.

Normally I wouldn't have an ounce of trust that what she said is true, but I somehow believe her.

After all I was on the verge of death.

It'd not be strange to meet G.o.d after dying, right?

"In other words, I'm dead, is it right?"

"Nn, that's right. You are unmistakable, completely, perfectly dead, nothing more than that!"

"Perhaps I didn't want that affirmation…"

If I hadn't died, my former companion Maria who's a master of healing magic would be able to heal me.

However, resuscitation of the dead is designed as a taboo and was sealed.

The soul is always intended to be circulating, as the doctrine says it's not permitted to unnaturally stop it.

Also, Maria doesn't know this technique anyway. In short, it's impossible to revive me.

"I see, that means I'll return to the circle of the soul."

"Well, you can think of it that way."

While singing in high spirits, *whirl* *whirl* G.o.d danced, whirling and hopping.

However, the words I heard after that made me feel it was really deep.

"What is it. You say as if it's possible to be resuscitated somehow."

As a question mark floats above my head, G.o.d puts her hand on her mouth and *mufufu* let an unpleasant laughter out.

Speechless, I wanted to punch this crazy G.o.d on her inexistent face.

However, immediately after that, dizziness suddenly hits me and my vision became dark.

Am I standing? Am I sitting? I can't understand, but my vision delineated a marble pattern[2], like a dribble of milk in a cup of tea.

"W-What…?"

"It seems the technique will begin soon. Well, I also like to use this kind of unfair means."

"That's why—My body, what?!"
