Alyanna Rohan's POV
"What are you doing here, Brylle?" A part of me is very unwilling to let him see me in this state.
"And who are you?" asked by Mrs. Highblood.
"I am her boss." Then he glanced to my two handcuffed hands before ordering. "Remove that on her."
"That girl owes me a very big amount!"
I protest to defend myself, "It's not me but my Aunt Seline!"
Mrs. Highblood and I once again started our argumentation. But to end it all, Brylle took the s.p.a.ce between us and became the middleman. "n.o.body can be jailed for their inability to pay debts, right? But to end this mess, I'll pay all of her Auntie's debt!" He said aloud with serious countenance. His eyes went to me and then he wiped away my tears. "Leave this to me, Yana."
It was as if a huge fish bone stuck on my throat was pulled out, 'though this action of Brylle only made me cry more.
He brought out a check and signed it. When he handed it to Mrs. Highblood, the woman's eyes almost popped out of their sockets, probably due to the amount written there.
"Now, whatever you filed against her, forget it."
"Okay, Sure!" She nodded for numerous times. She's really money-faced!
After they took off the cuff from me, I can only use my hands to cover my mouth. I'm still s.h.i.+vering, in the state of disbelief. I couldn't believe how everything was happening to me.
"Let's go, Yana."
Maybe because I'm still feeling weak so I have difficulty taking steps towards him. He noticed that and he personally went to me to support me.
"Let's go home."
We walked side and side and then boarded a beautiful, expensive-looking black car. I peeked on the window and saw everyone else's shocked expressions. Obviously, they will now be talking about the man who saved me.
....
We've been silent throughout the ride until we arrived on Brylle's mansion. After we descended the vehicle, Brylle only tapped it and then it transformed. It was actually an old model car transformed thtrough magic.
Vander welcomed us with his silliness. But later on, Brylle secretly gestured a sign to him. The little gnome got it's meaning so he disappeared to give us some moment of silence.
"Brylle, about the check. Was it real?"
"Yes. Don't worry. Everything has been paid."
After he said that, I feel like breathing now. "Thank you." I slowly knelt down in front of him and now I'm almost facing the ground that we've been stepping onto. "I owe you my life, Brylle. Thank you. Master Brylle, thank you so much ."
And while I was saying that, I was crying. I can no longer count how many times I told him 'thank you' while also explaining the truth.
"It's not me who wronged them. It was my Aunt Seline. I don't owe them anything but they blamed it all on me."
"Yana." When I looked up at his face, I seemed to see trace of tears forming in his eyes. "I believe you. And it's all fine now, your problem is through." Then he helped me stand up.
If he only knew how much had that gesture uplifted my mood. My tears burst out but I only covered my face. "Brylle, thank you. Really, thank you." And I won't be tired of saying that.
I only stopped speaking when he suddenly hugged me. And even without him saying it, it was like he's agreeing for me to cry on his shoulders. I won't hesitate anymore. I embraced him back, and it was a much tighter one.
I rested my chin on his shoulder as my teary eyes kept on welling up tears. I can feel the cold breezy air but I can feel more the warmth of Brylle's embrace.
....
"Sorry, I made your clothes wet." I muttered as I looked at his shoulder stained by my tears.
"It's fine. It will eventually dry up."
"Again, I'm sorry. I also have not prepared dinner. I really owe you so much."
For a long while, he didn't answer. And when he finally made up his mind on what to tell, he said, "We both pledged on the Initiation Ritual. A Bond Ring connects us. It's your job to obey me while it's my job to take care of you. In my care, you won't ever experience poverty again. And this is the new life I present to you."
Brylle's words moved me. In my whole life, this is the first time I received such concern. I doubted him at first but he still proved how warm-hearted he can be.
Silence reigned once again on the place. We're both sensing each other.
"Brylle..."
"What is it?"
"Thanks."
I know, he has been hearing this from me since a while ago. But on that moment, while I was saying that, he was picking up a leaf from the ground which he later blew up. My eyes followed the leaf which started flying up there like a balloon! I watched it until it vanished from my sight.
"Wow." That really amazed me.
"Make a wish, Yana."
"Ha?" That's when I realized my ring's crystal was actually glowing. I don't know how I made him happy this time. But I know for sure that he's happy.
"This time, don't say it out loud."
"How will you know what I wished for?"
"I'll just know it!"
I racked my brain hard. Then I closed my eyes and said my wish in my mind.
After a while, I once again heard Brylle's voice, saying "Done!"
I slowly opened my eyes and when I did, they went wide open, knowing that my wish had just came true!
I don't know how he did it. I don't even know what they are. But the place was being surrounded by s.h.i.+ning b.a.l.l.s.
"I wished for something magical to happen." Now what's more magical than this? So awesome! "Brylle, what are they?"
"Glowing orbs."
If I were going to describe the scene now, it was as if we're being surrounded by giant fireflies. They were glimmering and playing with the wind.
"Watch this, Yana." I s.h.i.+fted my eyes to what Brylle was doing. He poked one glowing orb and it burst into bright lights with different colors!
"So pretty!" I became happier as I imitated him! What a cool experience! More colourful! And more magical!
And then we played with the lights like how little children do. Though it was blinding, I did not remove my eyes from the glowing orbs around us.
"Brylle..."
"Looks like you've taken for yourself Vander's hobby of being repet.i.tive. You're welcome, Yana." He already knew what I want to say. Since he was now tired of those words, I only nodded and then we both laughed.
But I know, my 'thank you's will never be enough.
I roamed my eyes to our current place. We're at their dead garden. I've been here for a month but all I have cleaned was there mansion.
An idea suddenly popped up in my brain. It seems I know now how can I express grat.i.tude even through my little ways.
