Chapter 067. Night Crossing

Tonight’s sky was calm, no stars, there was only the curved crescent moon hanging, illuminating the night sky, and silence. Tonight, there was breeze. The wind was blowing gently, it was not cold, but it was very comfortable.

Anran stopped in front of the hotel. She looked at Su Yi Cheng, did not speak, but on her mouth was hanging a nice arc.

Su Yi Cheng turned to look at her, raised an eyebrow and asked, “What is it?”

Anran just laughed, not saying a word. Su Yi Cheng was puzzled and frowned. Suddenly, she came up, hooked her arms in his neck, then taking the initiative, sent her lips.

Su Yi Cheng was stunned, for kissing, such a thing, it had always been his specialty. After a moment, he recovered. One hand wrapped around her waist, another hand pressed on her head, then he deepened the kiss.

Su Yi Cheng let go of Anran, when she was already panting really hard and relying on his chest, just because of the kiss.

They hugged for a moment, both were calming their beating hearts. Su Yi Cheng whispered in her ear, “Should we go back?”

Anran, who was leaning on his chest, was listening to his heartbeat. Slowly, she calmed down, especially enjoying this moment and the quiet.

“Woo -”

The ferry raised a whistle not far from where they were. The neon flas.h.i.+ng lights of the night ferry s.h.i.+p slowly sailed towards the river.

Anran raised her head from his arms, and looked at the night ferry nearby, then she turned around and looked at the man in the front of her. She smiled and said, “Let’s go ride the ferry.”

Su Yi Cheng quieted for a moment, then expanded his smile, saying, “Good.”

They sat on the rails, siting on the ferry. Actually, she was very embarra.s.sed, that was to say, her hair was disorderly because of the river wind. She wore Su Yi Cheng’s jacket, and inside, was the dress which had a dark, large stain on the chest area because of red wine, which she estimated could not be washed away. It was different on Su Yi Cheng’s side. His hair was neatly combed even if there was the wind, leaving him with a point that was uninhibited randomly, slightly loose tie, and the sleeves was rolled up. He was not his usual serious appearance. It was more sunny and whimsical.

There were not many people on the night ferry. It was only a handful of people who were crossing with the ferry.  You could count them with your hands. The ferry traveled to the middle of the river, then turned around to see both sides of the neon lights in both cities.  A kind of strange feeling, generally, the bridge was unable to understand it.

“I heard that the government plans to build the bridge to Qingjiang.” Anran said, fearing that such an opportunity would made the ferry rides less and less after.

“Ah, there is the intention.” Su Yi Cheng nodded. The bridge construction was inevitable. It could not only add and promote contact between the two cities, but also to further promote the economic development of the two cities.

Anran nodded and looked at the slightly rippled surface of the river that was caused by the ferry pa.s.sing through, and then she turned around and looked at the man at her side, slowing down at the body, the upper headrest, his shoulder, and his arms, which naturally wrapped around her body. Everything seemed natural as if done thousands of times.

The wind breeze caressed Anran’s face. She could hear the sound of the water under the boat. Her eyelids slightly lowered. Tonight, it seemed long gone and well. Obviously, the time was still early, but it had seemed long, and she was too tired. Now, she could only have a good sleep.

Anran closed her heavy eyes, leaning on Su Yi Cheng’s arms, she slept, very rea.s.sured. Her mouth was slightly curved with a smile.

Su Yi Cheng glanced down at the person in his arms. His mouth rose and made a nice arc. He slightly shook his head, to help her adjust a comfortable position and let her sleep more at ease.

Anran did not know how she fell asleep. She did not know how Su Yi Cheng held her and went back home. When she woke up again, it was midnight, she was lying on the bed of her room, the bedside lights were on, and Su Yi Cheng was not in the room.

Stumbling up, feeling sleepy, her hand rubbed her eyes hard. She delicately yawned, then rolled out of bed. On her body was still the set of dress from the evening reception. The stain on her chest had become completely dry, and that deep black color had seeped into the fabric of clothes, which fairly meant that it really could not be washed away, and Anran suddenly felt some regret. She was not wearing the suit, had also for the entertainment tonight, and buying the dress had cost a lot of money, now that it was sc.r.a.pped, she was not without distress.

Sniffing her body shallowly, it smelled of alcohol, Anran directly opened the wardrobe and took the pajamas from inside, then went into the bathroom. When she came out from the bathroom, Su Yi Cheng still had not come back to the room. She thought that he might still be busy with his work. Anran dried her hair with a towel, opened the door, switched the living room lights on, but no one was there. On the table, there was a gla.s.s, which was filled by water.

Turning towards the study room, she pushed the door and saw that the room was dark and silent, without any shadows. This time, Anran doubted, and her eyebrows slightly wrinkled. It was so late, where did Su Yi Cheng go?

With doubt, she exited from the study room. She was going to the bedroom to get the phone to call him, when the door lock rotated at this time. When Su Yi Cheng opened the door, he saw the already awake Anran. He was surprised for a moment, then slowly smiled, “When did you wake up? ”

Anran looked at him, still wearing the c.o.c.ktail party suit, his tie was hanging loose, the collar was unb.u.t.toned and the sleeves of the s.h.i.+rt were rolled up on his two arms.

Anran smiled and asked, ” Did you just go out?”

Su Yi Cheng slightly pulled his necktie tiredly. He casually threw it on the sofa, edge to edge with the s.h.i.+rt, and said, “Just came back. I met an acquaintance in the apartment door, then came in and sat together for a moment, just before they left. ”

Anran didn’t care and tried to put away the tie on the couch. Incidentally, she took away his s.h.i.+rt too. He looked like he was tired and slightly distressed. She said, “Quickly, go take a bath now. It’s late at night. You have to go to work tomorrow.”

Su Yi Cheng looked at her for a moment, then smiled and nodded. He turned and went into the bedroom.

Anran looked at his back disappearing behind the door. Her mouth bent into a smile. She seemed vaguely aware of the changes in their inner heart. It seemed that she had begun to really like him. This idea made her a little dumbfounded. It seemed too fast. From when they met up to now, it had only been half a month, ah!

Anran was sitting on the couch. Remembering him, she realized that all of the things until  now, it seemed like it was too easy on him. He was too good, and too much for her, and too gentle and considerate, such a man like him, was he really too easy and too simple?

She faintly smiled, then put away the tie and clothes in her hands.  She was ready to put them into the was.h.i.+ng machine. She looked at the cup on the coffee table, instinctively reaching out and collecting it. She got up and walked to the kitchen. She put the cup into the sink, poured the excess water, but when she was ready to wash the cup in her hand, suddenly, she was shocked.

Anran was stunned. She looked at the cup. There was a red lipstick mouth stain. She forgot about the action. Just a neighbour, was the neighbour he encountered a woman? So late at night, who was the woman who came looking for Su Yi Cheng?

There was uncontrolled negative thinking in her mind, and her heart felt all kinds of speechless, complex emotions.
