Anran and Su Yi Cheng did not stay for long in Sunset Town to see the sunset. Anran did not really think too much, because she felt embarra.s.sed in front of people in that boat. When the boat reached the sh.o.r.e, at this time, the phone in her bag rang. It was Lin Xiao Fen who phoned her. She said that today was the weekend, so Anran and Su Yi Cheng could come home for dinner together. In fact, what she did not say was that she was afraid Su Yi Cheng would not eat well.
So that, after fulfilling the original intention to take the opportunity to see the sunset in the ‘Sunset Town’, they then to catch the last shuttle which ran around at dusk, they hastily left the beautiful, golden sandy beach, and then took a two-hour short trip, back to River City.
They did not return to the Gu’s apartment more than a week and did not see her parents. Anran naturally thought of it, but these days seemed to be very busy. For her, she wanted to go back, but she didn’t have energy left.
Because of emphasising on etiquette, at Su Yi Cheng’s insistence, but also firmly opposed by Anran, in the end, they brought some fruit back to the Gu’s apartment.
When Anran and Su Yi Cheng arrived, Lin Xiao Fen was in the kitchen preparing the evening meal dishes, while Gu Heng Wen, because there was no cla.s.s today, also stayed in the library to get his brush with pride.
Seeing them visit, Lin Xiao Fen and Gu Heng Wen were really happy. Four people sat and chat for a moment. Actually, it was some irrelevant topic, nothing more than eating homemade food, of course, for Lin Xiao Fen, although she wanted to give them tons of delicious food, there was also a purpose. Although those two’s marriage was quite a while ago, but about the two’s parents, there was a need to seize the time to see each other.
Su Yi Cheng nodded, and said that it was only needed to accommodate Gu Heng Wen’s time, the other was the place, and then they did not need to worry.
Lin Xiao Fen and Gu Heng Wen also minded the etiquette, requesting to choose lunar date, March 28th, on the next Friday. It was a good day. They should get married, should settle down. Although they had not prepared for the wedding, but to prepare for the two parents to meet was a prudent thing. Gu Heng Wen said to let Su Yi Cheng go back and ask his parents at home. If they were available, then set it at next Friday.
Finally looking at the time, Lin Xiao Fen stood up and said that dinner was almost ready. Anran volunteered to help and raised her hands. Lin Xiao Fen considered whether to let her into the kitchen with her. Su Yi Cheng accompanied Gu Heng Wen to chat in the living room. Both of them did not seem cold. The two chatted about community, events, and politics. Gu Heng Wen owing to so many years of teaching experience, reviewed the current situation of today’s education. There were eleven objective pros and cons which were pointed out from some perspective. The work of Su Yi Cheng also arose. It was not expected to come before his harvest.
Anran and Lin Xiao Fen were in the kitchen preparing for the meal tonight. Lin Xiao Fen as the chef, and Anran was responsible for some of the things along the way.
Sitting on the bench, one by one, Anran peeled the vegetables. Those yellow, moth leaves were one by one removed by her, and were the good parts were placed into the basket.
Lin Xiao Fen stood in front of the kitchen table with a small fish and a knife. She sliced across the middle of the belly, and then sc.r.a.ped out the inside of the internal organs, and then washed it with water, and finally, with a knife, the fish’s back scratched, cut the ginger and scallion, brewed them in old rice wine, then marinated the fish on the plate. The air was filled with the aroma of a kind of tempting wine.
“Is he kind to you?” A mother was always there for the children to speak because she had an endless worry. Although the mother probably knew the answer, but she always wanted to personally listen to her story, it seemed more convincing.
“Mom, Su Yi Cheng is very nice to me. Really. We did well.” In fact, Su Yi Cheng really impressed her. He had been taking care of her in every aspect, but in reference to one aspect, it seemed a bit excessive.
Lin Xiao Fen felt little bit of relief, and asked, “That’s good then. I think, Yi Cheng is also good. Have you seen his parents yet? How kind are they towards you?”
“Well, I have. “Anran thruthfully told the situation of the meeting that day, repeating it over and over. The Su family was really good to her, with their status, which could be considered as wealthy senior cadres, but seeing their att.i.tude towards her, and so, she was really regarded as a person. She could not help but lament her luck.
“According to what you said, the Su Family can be considered as official family home. Did they not mind about the door first?” She always thought that her Anran could just marry an ordinary person. No one wanted a husband who was so wealthy, so she could not help but be somewhat worried.
“Mom.” Anran got up and went to her mother’s side. She roughly knew what her mother was worried about, “The Su family is very good to me. About the door first, they did not really mind. When the day comes to meet them, you and Dad will see them face-to-face. They are not the kind of sn.o.bbish people, high above everyone else. ”
“Really?” Lin Xiao Fen asked, somehow, she still did not believe Anran. Because she was experienced, so she knew about the so-called wealthy, the so-called senior cadres, their att.i.tude which would place themselves in a superior position.
“Really, it’s true. When you see them, you will understand. My mother-in-law really is not the kind that you think she is.” Anran said.
Seeing her put it so firmly, Lin Xiao Fen could only nod to believe what Anran had said.
Anran and Su Yi Cheng went out from Gu family home at almost 21:00 at night. Eating there until they were full, then eating some fruit, those two’s belly were really satiated. They did not drive, and now, since they had eaten too much, they did not call the car, holding hands, they slowly walked towards the direction of their apartment down the street.
Tonight was really beautiful. There was no moon, and even a handful of stars could not be seen, there were only a few large floating clouds, the night sky loomed large and solitary.
River City night life began at around eight or nine o’clock at night. There were really quite a lot of neon lamps flas.h.i.+ng on pedestrian streets. Mostly the youngsters, which at the moment, like Anran and Su Yi Cheng, were holding hands.
His hand was large. There was no discomfort or awkward feeling, everything fit. Looking back, they had not known each other for that long, since being married to now, it was not even two weeks. Something that happened very quickly, but not all of it felt awkward.
Anran was allowed to think while holding his hand. Looking at the road ahead, her mouth evoked a faint smile. For the marriage, she thought that she was really lucky.
