Chapter 852: Snake VS Elephant
Since B-2 made a lot of dangerous remarks, I went to look for Dr. Yu right after entering the VIP building so he could modify B-2.
Only 48 hours had pa.s.sed, but the bas.e.m.e.nt of the VIP building looked even more impressive. It looked like a giant laboratory that combined both medical and mechanical engineering aspects. If Dr. Yu wasn’t in the first floor infirmary, then there was a good chance he was doing research here.
“What, anti-human tendencies?” Dr. Yu, who was operating a calutron, spun around on his chair with a shocked expression.
“It’s not anti-human, it’s anti-all living organisms, including animals and even plants.”
I stressed the seriousness of the situation.
Of course, before I came to tattle-tell on B-2, I already ordered B-2 to stay behind in the first floor hallway and exterminate and Wim that dares to invade the VIP building.
“It’s hard, having the capability to learn does make it troublesome.” Dr. Yu muttered, “Also, there’s way too much strange stuff on the internet, so even robots are learning bad things…”
“So you’re saying you can’t really do anything for the time being?” I furrowed my brows, “Then how about you set Xiao Qin as B-2’s fifth master, it would at least lower her chances of being attacked by B-2.”
“Alright.” Dr. Yu said as he added it to his agenda with his Google gla.s.ses, “But B-2 could only have at most five masters, otherwise its calculation capabilities will be greatly reduced if it exceeds that amount.”
B-2 will serve Ai Mi, Dr. Yu, me, Winnie, and Xiao Qin at the same time. It better not do anything crazy like taking apart a “juvenile carbon-based lifeform” for research, or the five of us will end up in court.
When I returned to the first floor, we ran into Peng TouSi who was about to head out to walk Obama. Obama’s appearance made me and Xiao Qin laugh out loud.
What’s wrong with Obama’s mouth, why does it look so swollen? I know he’s gluttonous, but there’s no reason for Obama to only gain fat on his mouth and none on his stomach. Huskies all have pointed faces, but now Obama looked like he had a round face.
“Obama…”
Peng TouSi shrugged: “Unfortunately got bit by a snake.”
“Snake, why’s there a snake in the VIP building? What if the snake had bitten Ai Mi instead of Obama?”
Obama grudgingly wailed when he heard my remark.
“Awhooooo~~” even his bark didn’t sound normal, it sounded like someone who couldn’t enunciate clearly.
“Obama wasn’t bitten inside the VIP building, he was bitten in the garden outside.” Peng TouSi explained, “Obama found a bamboo viper when he was playing in the garden. He thought he could eat it, so he tried to take a bite, but the snake moved first…”
“So it was his own fault, but why was there a bamboo viper in the garden? I heard those snakes are more common in Taiwan and I don’t think there are any in Dong Shan City.”
Xiao Qin s.h.i.+vered: “Someone must have purposely put one in there. It doesn’t matter if it’s imperial harem TV shows or Detective Conan, there are always people who use venomous snakes to commit crimes.”
Peng TouSi nodded: “Miss Ren is correct.”
I interrupted Peng TouSi: “You could just call her Xiao Qin.”
“Oh, Miss Xiao Qin is correct.” Peng TouSi was probably used to calling Miss Ai Mi all the time, so he automatically added the honorifics to girls her age.
“Dr. Yu and I believe the bamboo viper was put here by members of the SAFE organization. They probably did it as a warning to tell Dr. Yu to stop experimenting with white mice.”
“So those animal protection terrorists still haven’t given up? Although the toxin of the bamboo viper is weak, it’s still dangerous if you don’t treat it in time!”
Ever since I was bitten on the ankle by a snake on Cui Song Mountain, I’ve been brus.h.i.+ng up on the distribution and toxicity of various venomous snakes in China so that I would be prepared.”
“Is the bamboo viper still in the garden?” Xiao Qin leapt to her feet, “I’ll go and catch it, that’s a good deed, right?”
Xiao Qin was still thinking about getting stars from me.
“I already caught it and gave it to Dr. Yu.” Peng TouSi said, “Ai Mi was going to skin the snake to make a collar for Obama, but we were finally able to convince her to let Dr. Yu raise it.”
“What’s the point of raising a venomous snake? Give it to the French chef so he could work on new recipes, he’s studying Chinese food anyway.”
Actually, I was underestimating French chefs by thinking they have never cooked snake before. My dad told me later that during the Franco-Prussian War period, Paris was heavily besieged by the Prussian army. The people didn’t have anything to eat, so French chefs headed to the Paris Zoo. Roast camel, donkey head, cat and mouse platter, as well as today’s world-renowned French escargot was also created around that time. The French ability to eat indiscriminately was comparable to that of the Chinese.
“The reason why Dr. Yu wanted to raise the bamboo viper…” Peng TouSi continued, “It’s so the bamboo viper could help dispose of the mice carca.s.ses. Bamboo vipers which are raised in the zoo are fed mice as their staple food.”
Huh, it’s really ironic. The SAFE members released a bamboo viper as a warning because Dr. Yu was slaughtering mice, but they didn’t expect the bamboo viper to become Dr. Yu’s accomplice. Dr. Yu really has a cold sense of humor.
“In any case, I feel like the VIP building’s security is slacking.” I said with a bit of dissatisfaction, “If the SAFE members can let in a snake today, then they might let in an elephant tomorrow. We have to think of ways to improve the security.”
“How about we raise more dogs?” Xiao Qin suggested, “Dogs love to bite. My mom’s colleague has a dog that saw a hedgehog outside. The dog bit it and their mouth is still swollen…”
Peng TouSi and I discussed ways to improve security. Xiao Qin also gave a lot of suggestions, but most of them were unrealistic. Most of the suggestions were using animals as a s.h.i.+eld, so the SAFE members won’t be able to do anything.
“In order to prevent the SAFE members from bringing an elephant here…” Xiao Qin said with a serious expression, “Let’s raise an elephant in the garden first. When the other elephant sees another members of its species, it will come up and say, ‘miss, your nose is beautiful, let’s go on a date at the botanical garden this weekend’…”
“So you’re going to raise a female elephant in the garden and use seduction tactics? What if they also brought a female elephant?”
“If they are both female elephants.” Xiao Qin said without changing her expression, “They can chat about the latest fas.h.i.+on trends.”
“Do elephants at your house wear clothes?”
“Raising an animal in the garden could be one option to raise our defenses, but we have to think carefully about which animal we’re going to raise.” Peng TouSi racked his brains.
I heard that Ai Mi was working out in the gym across from the infirmary today, which was a rare occurrence, so I went there with Xiao Qin to look for her.
Before I left, I thought Obama’s swollen mouth was too funny. I took a picture and t.i.tled it ‘Anpanman – Obama’, then I send it to the cla.s.s leader.
The cla.s.s leader didn’t immediately reply to my text (probably was talking to her mother who was in Shanghai), but when she saw the photo, she felt it was super cute, but she was also very worried about Obama and asked me:
“Why did the dog’s face turn into a steamed bun? Did Obama get stung by a bee?”
I told the cla.s.s leader the truth. When the cla.s.s leader heard that Obama was bitten by a venomous snake, she decided to take advantage of the weekend and come visit Obama either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. She asked which day was convenient for me because she was embarra.s.sed to come alone.
Tomorrow is Sat.u.r.day, I have to go pick out a cell phone with Xiao Qin. I decided to invite the cla.s.s leader to the VIP building as a guest on Sunday.
After confirming with the cla.s.s leader, I felt really guilty inside.
Um… the cla.s.s leader would never expect that Ai Mi would set a trap to make the cla.s.s leader change into a maids outfit to serve her before she could get close to the dog, right?
Ai Mi also seemed to have other secret weapons other than Obama, but she wouldn’t tell me.
The gym in the VIP building was originally designed to be used by Ai Mi alone, so it wasn’t particularly large. It had a treadmill, a dynamic exercise bike, a twisting machine, and a ping pong table.
Although there weren’t a lot of equipment, they were all high quality and luxurious enough to blind the eyes of ordinary people.
The treadmill was futuristic and wouldn’t look out of place if it was inside a s.p.a.ces.h.i.+p. You can watch TV on the display while running, and apparently after connecting to a panoramic screen, it can change the 3D scenery as the user runs.
The dynamic bike was magnetically controlled and completely silent. It wouldn’t disturb your neighbors no matter how fast you bike. Although Ai Mi didn’t need that feature, high quality goods are all designed that way.
The twisting machine was similar to the waist twister you would have at home, but it was an upgraded version. It was like a stationary bike with no wheels, but only handrails and pedals. It’s supposed to slim your legs and arms through the twisting action, but I’ve never used it.
Other than those three equipment, there was a ping pong table with a solid wood base, with gold lacquer decorations on it. Since the four legs had intricate carvings, I almost thought it was a billiards table.
Even if the net in the middle of the table confirms that it’s a ping pong table, I think it looks more like a casino’s gambling with its green tabletop.
The reason why the gym was located across from the infirmary was so Ai Mi could be treated immediately in case she got injured while working out, but currently, Dr. Yu was AWOL and not in the infirmary, but in the underground lab making adjustments to B-2.
The main reason was because Ai Mi rarely went to the gym, maybe not even once a week.
After Xiao Qin and I knocked on the door and entered, we found Ai Mi neither running on the treadmill, nor cycling on the exercise bike, nor twisting on the twisting machine.
She was wearing a short top that exposed her navel and gym shorts. Her blonde ponytail waved around and her sweat was dripping as she played ping pong alone.
Ai Mi’s opponent was fixed to the other end of the table tennis table. It had three joints and was a flexible mechanical hand.
