Afterwards, no matter how many times Xiao Qin called the scammer, he did not answer. Xiao Qin tilted her head with distress and mumbled:
“Did he already transform?”
After I accompanied the deeply worried Xiao Qin to the subway station, I put her at ease:
“Forget about him, but if you can’t let him go, just dream again tonight and you’ll know what happens next.”
Xiao Qin’s eyes were instantly filled with s.h.i.+mmering lights.
“No wonder you’re the daddy. What a brilliant idea.”
Then she waved goodbye and quickly ran into the subway station.
She left me at the same spot surrounded by vicious gazes.
Someone asked: “Why does the girl call him daddy, they’re clearly wearing the same uniform…”
A nearby uncle replied: “Heh, I already said you lacked life experiences. It’s common for bad j.a.panese girls who do compensated dating and hide the fact by calling the partner daddy.”
“But, he’s only older by at most three years. Wouldn’t it be more eye-catching if he was called daddy, or is it because he has perverted hobbies…”
The men and women who used me as a topic of conversations went down the escalators and disappeared.
Who’s older by three years, we’re the same age. Xiao Qin wasn’t calling me her dad, she meant I was the dad of her child. Also, what do you mean by perverted hobbies, are you calling me a daughter-con? I don’t even want to be labeled as a siscon, why did you guys give me another label?
After I parted ways with Xiao Qin, I remember it was time to fix the bathroom door. I diverted from my usual route and headed towards Lai Meng Dun Market. I wanted to pick up a cheap lock and see if I could replace it myself at home.
I picked up a ¥25 lock and headed home content. On the way home, I thought about what I should eat for dinner and if the cla.s.s leader made nutritious and delicious dishes. Shu Zhe is living in luxury and doesn’t even realize it.
When I was pa.s.sing by a pedestrian bridge, I saw two peddlers on the bridge selling rabbits. The one who was squatted in front of them, caressing the rabbits, was Gong CaiCai.
From her angle, she couldn’t see me, who was not far behind her. She affectionately caressed the white rabbit’s ears as if she could see her own shadow on the timid rabbits.
Other than a cage and two rabbits, the two young peddlers didn’t have any other merchandise. You can’t help but suspect these rabbits were not obtained through legal means.
The young man with a knife scar on his eye began to speak when he noticed Gong CaiCai’s interest in the rabbits:
“Hey pretty lady, you should buy them if you’re interested. One for ¥20, two for ¥50, it’s really worth it.”
d.a.m.n, did a gym teacher teach you math? How did two become more expensive than one?
The other young man who had hair dyed blond glared at his companion and quickly added on:
“Two is ¥50 because the cage is included. You’re very pretty and these rabbits are perfect for you.”
Previously, Gong CaiCai was too preoccupied with petting the rabbits and didn’t even notice the peddlers’ appearance. Now that she noticed their bad aura, she retracted her hands with some fear and stammered:
“My parents won’t let me raise a pet. Although these rabbits are really cute, if I raise them along with my plants… they might chew on them…”
Gong CaiCai apologized and wanted to leave.
When the scarred man realized Gong CaiCai was not going to buy, he slammed his hand down on the railing of the bridge that was behind him.
Gong CaiCai trembled and her hair clip almost fell out of her naturally curly hair.
“What, now you want to leave after playing with the rabbits and blocking the front of our store for so long?”
What store? You guys only have two rabbits which were probably stolen from someplace.
Gong CaiCai clenched onto the straps of her backpack when she was blamed, and nervously lowered her head in shame.
“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t intentionally interfere with your business. The rabbits were too cute and I accidentally… it won’t happen again…”
The two men smiled at each other and felt Gong CaiCai was easy to bully. Not only did they not let her leave, but blondie also grabbed on to her left hand.
“Eh, your hand is pretty soft. This is what you used to pet our rabbits earlier.”
Gong CaiCai didn’t even have the spirit to struggle when she saw their malicious faces.
“I was wrong… I was really wrong. I’m sorry… please forgive me. I didn’t purposely pet the rabbits, please let me leave. It’s really hot today and I have plants at home waiting to be watered. They will wither if I’m late. If an apology is not enough… I can compensate you…”
The scar man made a wicked smile and said: “Compensation? These are moon rabbits, can you afford them?”
Gong CaiCai was about to cry, “But, didn’t you just say they were ¥50?”
Blondie clenched Gong CaiCai’s hand tighter, “Before was before, now is now. If they can raise the price of pork, why can’t we raise the price of rabbits? If you don’t give us ¥500 today…”
Gong CaiCai replied hastily like a person gasping for air:
“I’ll pay ¥500. My hand hurts… please I’m begging you as long as you let me go…”
It was unexpected for them when Gong CaiCai easily accepted.
“Huh, I couldn’t tell you were from a rich household.”
Gong CaiCai usually dresses plain and simple compared to her family situation. She also never carries valuable jewelry with her, but if you couldn’t tell she was from a rich family based on her gestures, then these two were clearly blind.
The bad part was Gong CaiCai had one-third of her iPhone 4 peaking out the side of her bag which was seen by the two of them.
“Heh, you can even afford Apple. Hand over your Apple phone first as compensation.”
Gong CaiCai begged in a quiet voice: “My aunt gave me this phone, can you please not…”
The blondie pulled Gong CaiCai next to him and laughed:
“You were the one who stole from us first, so don’t blame us.”
