Chapter 2943: Going Abroad Through Unofficial Channels

Ning Shu had no intention of going abroad through official channels.

She found a smuggler, paid some money, and arranged to sneak into the country where Ou Haoxuan and Min Haochu were located.

However, smuggling was no easy task. Ning Shu had to crouch in the cramped quarters of a cargo s.h.i.+p.

These s.h.i.+ps mainly transported goods, and the middleman arranged for Ning Shu and a group of other stowaways to board.

After a long, b.u.mpy sea journey, they finally arrived.

Ning Shu stepped onto the land, feeling dizzy and unsteady, as if her feet were sinking into cotton.

Using the tracking system, she followed the directions.

The entire journey had been… indescribably tough.

Being poor was inconvenient no matter where you went.

Ou Haoxuan and Min Haochu were living in a villa near a prestigious university in Country E, while Ning Shu could only afford to stay in a bas.e.m.e.nt.

Still, it was easier to get close to them here than back home.

Ning Shu observed that Min Haochu and Ou Haoxuan loved eating out, so she decided to apply for a job as a waitress at the restaurant they frequented.

She needed to make a living, after all.

Looking in the mirror, Ning Shu applied makeup, tweezed her eyebrows, and slightly altered her appearance.

She wasn’t stunning, but she wasn’t ugly either—just plain enough that no one would remember her face.

Then, Ning Shu went to the restaurant and applied for a job. She was willing to do anything, even mopping floors or was.h.i.+ng dishes.

She had a basic grasp of the local language, so communication wasn’t a problem.

The restaurant accepted her and gave her a uniform.

The next day, Ning Shu started work. The job was hard and dirty—she was at the bottom of the food chain, doing all the menial tasks.

Every day, she inhaled the delicious scent of steaks and salads, but couldn’t eat a bite.

Occasionally, Ning Shu would spot Min Haochu and Ou Haoxuan dining at the restaurant.

She’d glance at their bill—so much money!

Clearly, they didn’t feel they had done anything wrong. Though their lives had been slightly disrupted, in a new environment, they were still living well.

Ning Shu remained calm, gathering information about Min Haochu and Mu Yeyao.

Since this incident didn’t affect the Ou family much, Ou Haoxuan was pretty much the same as before.

However, Min Haochu seemed to have changed. Based on Ning Shu’s observations, he had become much more composed. In the past, he had exuded a charming, devil-may-care att.i.tude, but now he seemed much calmer as if the hards.h.i.+ps he had endured had refined his will.

Ning Shu wasn’t in a hurry to deal with them. Knowing your enemy was key to winning every battle.

Min Haochu didn’t appear to have any particular hobbies and genuinely seemed to be focusing on his studies.

Ou Haoxuan, on the other hand, had taken up car racing—an adrenaline-pumping sport.

Sometimes, Min Haochu would come to the restaurant alone, wrapped in a scarf, his breath visible in the cold air.

He always carried a brown leather notebook, looking like a typical foreign student.

Ning Shu couldn’t help but notice how much he had changed. He was calmer, but also more dangerous.

She sighed quietly, feeling the weight of the situation.

Ning Shu continued waiting for the right moment. One evening, when Min Haochu came to dine, the restaurant was short-staffed, so Ning Shu, who usually mopped floors and washed dishes, also had to serve food.

The manager reminded her about some serving etiquette.

When Min Haochu arrived that evening, Ning Shu quickly stepped forward to serve him.

He ordered a medium-rare steak and waited for his food.

As Ning Shu served his meal, she intentionally brushed her fingers against the steak before covering it and bringing it to his table.
