Outside Xinchen Mansion.

He Jin mysteriously pushed the door of a box slightly open, knocked three times, waited for ten seconds and then knocked for the fourth time.

As the fourth knock died away, the door was opened. He Jin wasn't afraid at all. He closed the door behind him and walked deeper into the box.

This was a private box with beautiful interior decoration. Anybody could tell that it was unaffordable to Everyman. The look on He Jin's face was somewhat uneasy. In the knowledge that that man would soon arrive, he managed to subdue his impatience and sat down on a sofa opposite which there was a chair.

After a while, a gust of wind blew into the box. He Jin couldn't help but raise his hand to shelter his eyes from it. When he lowered his arm, he observed that a man enwrapped in a black robe had materialized out of thin air sitting on the chair.

He Jin lowered his head, afraid to look at the man. In an unnoticeably quivering voice, he said, "You came."

Were anybody here to see He Jin's att.i.tude, he or she would definitely be amazed. Though not as domineering as He Zheng, He Jin was never a man of modesty. In fact, he had always been arrogant and bossy. Surprisingly, he was now acting so humbly and obediently in front of such an eccentric man.

"Someone killed that Dream Eater." He Jin made this remark almost through gritted teeth, because the death of the Dream Eater always evoked his memories of those insulting remarks that he heard at the doorway of the box on that day!

"Yeah." He Jin had thought that the reason why the man was wearing a hood was because his face was revolting. However, to his surprise, the man's voice was very pleasant to hear, as melodious as the most touching music in the world. "I've already known it."

He Jin heavily smacked his fist onto the sofa. "How come that good-for-nothing escaped from the Dream Eater you transformed?"

"Someone intervened," the man interrupted him.

Taken aback, He Jin raised his head in astonishment. "Was it by any chance those busybodies of Zhu family who ruined our plan?"

"Humph. They're not capable of it."

The aura of the man was so daunting that He Jin didn't dare to raise his head. With beads of cold sweat flowing down from his forehead, he asked nervously, "Then who was it that could have done that?"

"That's not a question you are supposed to ask."

"II beg your pardon." He Jin's anger was nothing compared with that of the man and he buckled at the knees. If it weren't for that he was sitting on a sofa, he would no doubt have knelt down to the ground. His voice also sounded less as tough. Instead, it was quivering. "Please help me. I can never find peace of mind in the knowledge that that good-for-nothing is still breathing."

"Okay." The man stretched his hand out of the sleeve. His skin was deathly white and his fingers were long. One after another, in a leisurely manner, he tapped his fingers on the armrest. "There's no hurry. Currently, He Zheng is under the protection of somebody."

"Who is it? Is it the patriarch of Zhu family?" A look of venom flashed across He Jin's eyes. "It's lucky for that good-for-nothing to have a protective family at his back." "That old man is not capable of it either. He knows nothing but the trifling skill of a scribe," the man chuckled, which sent chills down He Jin's spine. "I'll take it from here. Don't take any covert action without my knowledge lest you ruin my plan."  "Yes. I understand." He Jin seemed to be afraid to make any further remarks, but when he lowered his head, the look on his face manifestly suggested otherwise.

The man disappeared into thin air like a gust of wind. If it weren't for that his hair was sticking to his scalp due to the cold sweat, he would have, without doubt, deemed this meeting a mere dream.

He still remembered that it was by sheer chance that he had met this mysterious man. At that time, He Jin's cultivation went awry and was just inches away from paralysis. It was this man who, without breaking a sweat, saved him.

He Jin lowered his head to looked at his hand. On his palm, there was a fine, black line that was scarcely visible.

It was a mark left by demonic Qi.

Slowly, He Jin curved his unfolded palm into a fist. Since the man had left, He Jin no longer needed to conceal his true feelings. He sat there, an air of sinisterness and ferocity about him. Half of his face was deep in shadow, and the other half looked exceptionally forbidding. "He Zheng, if you don't die, both our misery will never end." Though that man had just told him not to make any moves, He Jin had already came up with his own plan. He was determined to kill He Zheng who was a thorn in his flesh after He Zheng came back, even if it would be an act of defiance of that man.
